However it is not a spot light, there is not just a single circle of light being produced on the plane, instead it is a sphere of light very far away, so the light given off from all angles, which doesnt change regardless of the path it took, illuminates the entirety of the plane evenly (nearly evenly only changes slightly due to the curvature of the sun, however the distance between Earth and the sun makes this minimal). Does Jim also need to prove that the Sun is not a giant spot light but instead a sphere to make his point?


Guessing this just isn't a proper way to go about it just to test if the Earth is round to please the overlords

Think about the angle the sun makes as it moves.

 

This will work when the distance between turns is long enough for the curvature of the earth to be strong enough to influence the experiment.

If the distance is too short, it will just act as a plane

so for 10 meters it wouldn't work, but for 10 kilometers, it will seeing as the distance would be big enough to see the effect of the curvature of the earth

 

Day 1
Jim goes 100 KM West from the center of his shitty country and finds the time (midday) where the sun is directly above him.
Document the time.
Day 2
Send son to place a stick 100 KM east from his shitty country to set the vertical stick at the same time.
Jim, at the same time, places a vertical stick directly underneath at a point that is 100 KM west from the center of his shitty country.
Jim and his son measure the length of the shadow cast.
The angle the sun makes at Jim's point of location is 7.2 degrees while the angle the sun makes at his son's position is zero degrees.

This proves that the suns rays are all parallel. (Different shadow angles gives the realization that the Sun's rays are all dropping at the same direction from the sun).
As the day progresses, the angle from the shadow changes proving that the Sun is moving and the rays are indeed parallel.

Conclusion: Earth is curved.

The sun's rays are not diverging. The rays are all parallel due to the difference in angles cast on the shadow at Point A and Point B. The rays also change at a fixed angle as each hour passes by at both Point A and Point B.

Given that the overlords know Jim's math of LxWxH for his wall is incorrect, and Jim figured out he would need more concrete for his wall, he knows he cannot be living on a flat plane.

Look at an object far away. Perspective shows that it is not parallel but converges upon a point, a vanishing point. Now if you look up, you can see the sun's rays are pointing towards you and makes them appear to converge towards that same converging point. Those beams that converge are called crepuscular rays. Now when you watch the sun starting to set low on the horizon, you can see ANTI crepuscular rays which converge to a different point on the OPPOSITE side of the sky. This proves that the rays are parallel and there's another vanishing point in the opposite direction from the sun.

 

I'm excited to see the full answer; I'm curious to see what variable we all neglected.
