Jim's success in accurately predicting the volume of the Great Wall of the Glorious People's Republic of Shité (his country) has drawn the ire and skepticism of his overlords. They have scrapped the project.

Jim has now been asked to prove conclusively to his masters that the earth is in fact round, as assumed in his previous calculations.

Jim is not allowed to leave the Glorious People's Republic of Shité. The country is very small, only a 150 km across in any dimension. The Shitéians have no rocket technology and cannot afford fuel for their planes. Further he has only a week and there are no lunar eclipses during that week.

just have Jim and his master lie on their belly on the ground and wait for the sunset, as soon as they stop seeing the sun, have them get up and they will start seeing the sun again thus proving that the earth is not flat as this wouldn't happen if it were flat

to amplify this effect, they could lie on the ground until the sun disappear and then climb on a fork lift and raise the lift above the ground

They could also place 2 sticks in the ground a kilometer apart from each other and then measure the length of their respective shadow, they will see that they don't have the same length, but if the earth was flat they would have had the same length

If Jim were to sequentially jump on one side of his country, travel to the other side and repeat the process, he should pulled nearer the center of the gravitational pole instead of downward if the Earth was indeed not round.

have jim walk 10 kilometers in a straight line, then have him take a 90 degree turn right, have him walk another 10 kilometers in the direction he turned and have him turn 90 degrees again to the right, have him walk another 10 kilometers and jim will have arrived back at the starting point.

if earth was flat, jim would have "drawn" an unfinished square as opposed to a "triangle" if it was round

Then move your head 10 cm higher and you will find you can see it again. I guarantee you that your floor is a plane. Surveying equipment does not incorporate curvature because building projects have a tiny footprint compared to the curvature of the earth.

Your diagram assumes you can walk to the various poles of the hemispheres, which is a good test but Jim can't leave his country. Walking 200m north then 200m east then 200m south would land you 200m from where you started. Try it yourself.

Your diagram assumes you can walk to the various poles of the hemispheres, which is a good test but Jim can't leave his country. Walking 200m north then 200m east then 200m south would land you 200m from where you started. Try it yourself.

The diagram is just to picture the effect, you don't actually need to travel to hemispheres to test it. A few hundred meters or a few kilometers should be enough to see it in action, thus allowing jim to demonstrate this idea whilst staying inside his country.

i edited to increase the distance, also, i'm telling jim to walk 10km, turn right 90 degrees, walk 10km turn right 90 degrees and walk 10km.

after this 3rd 10km he will be back to the starting point if earth is round.

if earth is flat, he would draw a square with 1 missing side as opposed to a triangle if earth is round.

so if jim does what I tell him to do and after 2 90 degrees right turns, he ends up at the starting point, he will have proven that earth isn't flat

Launching a melon straight up would and seeing it land directly where it was launched from does not prove the earth is round. If anything it would suggest the coriolis effect is not present and therefore might be evidence in favour of a glorious communist plane.

This is not conclusive or even a valid logical step. Equivalently the Shitéians might view sheep through a telescope and conclude they are riding through space on a giant sheep.
