Sythe PR Team - feedback & suggestions

Do the community a favor and disband. The lack of progress is embarrassing.

while i agree on the latter point, i don't think the solution here is to totally disband; i think the PR team could feasibly do something productive, and i know they've had trouble getting their feet on the ground. that said, i think they need some serious guidance and a hard list of things to accomplish every so often, which is presumably what they're looking for help with creating in this thread (?)

 

I dont mind things being more transparent. However I am not the only person in the team. Eventhough I am the leader I dont (tend to) make decisions without discussing it with the team. In my opinion this is the right way. After we've discussed I am sure to tell you the results.

 

@Tyler deleted my post on the other thread, I guess I'll leave my feedback here. You guys have done absolutely nothing to bring increased activity to this website. Making competition that promote artificial activity in a dead section will literally do no good to the website. You need to make efforts to bring new members in without making artificial discussion. You can censor feedback all day long, but in the end, your "events" just promote fake activity.

I've noticed Twitter is about the only relatively active social media platform that's making a presence. With that being said, what sort of ratio are we converting followers/viewers into members?

Don't ask me. Staff have obviously already given up on this website as shown by abysmal activity. PR team is accomplishing absolutely nothing. CDT is making an event every week that has the same five participants. And also, TC is literally gone with SuF and Grave disappearing.

If you can't tell, the forum is past a point of no return, unfortunately.

 

You would think observing this thread would be a priority for the leaders lol

@Soul a bit of feedback, the stuff I promised yesterday

After being PR Leader for ~4 months, in my opinion some things do work and some things do not work in regards to the promotion of Sythe. My personal opinion is found below.

First of all I think social media and especially Twitter and Facebook dont work at all. I think there is very minimal output (if any) when looking at the input. In the time that I was leader we used bit.ly which tracks the amount of clicks on a link. Links posted on Twitter and Facebook got like 2-3 clicks average. I doubt anyone joined Sythe through our Twitter or Facebook. Youtube, however, could have potential (vids are nice for the community every now and then as well, like Mez did when I was leader). If you really want Youtube to bring in new members you have to find someone willing to spend 20 hours a week on it.

Something that I think does work is to continiously promote one sector through a constant stream of posts on platforms regarding that sector. For example the Rocket League market. For like 2-3 months I kept posting on the Rocket League marketplace on Reddit which ended up making the Rocket League marketplace on Sythe quite active (to this day still, 4 months after I stopped the promoting).

Another thing I think works is to try and team up with other websites similar to Sythe.org, for example an event or something. I contacted a bunch of big website owners in an attempt to get something going, but I was unable to succeed in this. I still think this is the option with the most potential though.

Also feedback on @Sythe himself. When I was leader it was very hard to do things because it felt like Richard didnt take PR serious at all. Whenever I asked/requested something I either got no response at all or a very late response.

If you cant be bothered to put time in the PR then give someone else the power to take real decisions, some kind of 'Head of the Community Teams' which can be directly contacted and say "yes" or "no" without having to wait a very long time on you (Richard).

 

You think this could work for Dota 2 Market too? It has a lot of potential but just needs that initial push

 

Depends. With the Rocket League market I spent 1000€ on the rarest items in-game (merching) and then sold it only on Sythe.org. This made a lot of people visit Sythe as not many people have/had the rarest items. The items are currently worth like 3-4 times as much btw.

 

Oh that's actually a smart idea, with Dota 2 I don't got that kinda money to invest/I wouldn't know anything about it
