Our responsibilities:


Leader responsibilities
To oversee all operations of the Sythe PR team. Which includes but is not limited to

• Take new applicants, and oversee the application process
• Post all updates and content onto our various social media page(s)
• Act as liaison between the PR and CDT team to make sure events are properly communicated and promoted on social media if necessary
• Last resort in decision making if there are issues that require their attention

Team member responsibilities

• To create content that will be posted on our various social media page(s) included but not limited to articles, promotional work, graphics work
• To increase activity in the site through our work
• To serve as "the face" of Sythe, be helpful around the forums and helping direct new members around the website
• Refer people outside of Sythe to Sythe and leaving positive reviews on various websites

Our goals:
The PR team hopes to strengthen the bonds between Sythe and the communities outside of Sythe.
We hope to better the site in terms of activity, accountability and transparency.
However our main goal is to help bring in new community members!



This thread can be used to leave feedback and suggestions. Constructed criticism is allowed, flaming/discriminatory remarks will be removed and infracted. Keep that in the spam forum.
That being said, let us know what you'd like to see from us.

How do I know if I'm qualified?
What we are looking for is simple. We want people that are trustworthy and honest but can also devote time to the team.
We need to see that you are an active member of the community and are willing to help us in our mission.
We need to be able to trust you with handling Sythe's social media platforms.
Good communication skills are a great asset.
Experience with social media/advertising are a plus.
We are looking for active streamers and GFX suppliers.

That doesn't even mention cheating, RS, or the market. The market is what has always brought the most new users to Sythe, and that's not being promoted as much as random terms.

 

I know public rep focuses on driving new members into the community, but also reviving dead/low visited sections on sythe would be pretty cool too. For example, a majority of people on here plays OSRS, yet the OSRS general section is kind of dead. Having PR members post or create threads on dead sections would be nice.

And more events for miniranks!!!

 

We will definitely be looking into this. I'm already talking within the team, and we will be brainstorming. Thank you so much for the feedback.

Also, what kind of FB posts or tweets, in your opinion, would be most beneficial? Thats directed at anyone, not just you Mandingo

The metrics in question you are talking about are stuff like site traffic, how many active community members we have and other of the sort.


At the moment our PR team is looking to

• Finish completing ALL of our social media accounts
• Be "the face" of Sythe.org in our own forums, helping new members, being useful around the site ect.
• Grow our social media accounts through our people who are already active on Sythe forums.

 

Hey man, thanks for the reply. Not sure where the hostility is coming from but I only reposted it because I though seph missed it. He's usually pretty punctual and was under the impression he would have responded had he seen it. As the leader of PR, there really is no reason to be passive aggressive - put on a professional face my dude.

Those are good metrics (site traffic and active members), could we get some numbers on where you guys are starting to see how we are improving or not improving? This could prove pretty beneficial and would definitely help you garner more support. I also would encourage you guys to spread awareness using referral links so we can see how many new members your team is bringing in. This number again should be reported maybe monthly? Along with the others

Sorry for the double post, but have we considered putting PR members into other communities? Ones that don't really serve as black markets but perhaps there are other people we can bring over

 

We are already actually looking in getting touch with a couple other forums to discuss things like this.

Thanks for your suggestion regarding referrals.

Because we currently are in the process of growing our social medias for the time being, our metrics would not be influenced by us, but by natural growth and things like Richard's pokemon bot ect.

 

Seeing discounts on services, gold, and gold selling on tweets/facebook posts would be awesome. NOT ADVERTISEMENTS, but instead LEGITMATE discounts only available to those following the posts/tweets

 

I don't think the PR team should be too concerned with internal affairs, that's the CDT's job really. The PR team should be focusing on drawing in new members. OSBot has a website thread on here, so I'd say making accounts in other forums and communities to help spread the word (if those boards allow it). Reddit, 4chan, etc. Focus on other sites and getting people to know about Sythe, rather than being the face of Sythe internally. Be the face of sythe, externally.

 

Community Development, in my mind, should be keeping the current community active and flourishing by various methods (ex. events).

Public Relations typically deal with outside sources, like you're saying, to grow the community with new members.

In a marketing perspective, one of your organizations needs to create viral related threads to encourage growth and bring in new members. While writing a blog or magazine, you need to keep up with events outside of the site and bring that new content to the website. It increases the SEO results for Sythe, which encourages expansion. If Sythe has a team making lengthy and detailed tutorials & reviews, you'll see Sythe ranking higher on search engines for those related topics. You use the content and viral concepts to improve your social media account quality and give the potential to make the site itself go viral. Every time a site page gets shared and liked, it gains authority due to quality back-links.

Since the PR team is working with the social media accounts and promoting growth, rather than activity, I believe they should be the ones focusing on internal content creation. But, I also think that this goes back to a post I remember reading in another thread by Richard. He mentioned that he would like to see the two groups be merged eventually, which I understand completely. The two teams have to be in unison to develop the website inside and out. If the community development team would like to make all of the internal content, they will have to be in sync with the PR team and stay updated with events. Create a system to have the PR team send the CDT team content that would promote the website and have the members post related content which can be shared on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

That is just my two cents, but I'm reasonably educated on the topic; take it under consideration.

 

Do they teach passive aggression as a tool for good PR in PR 101?

in an attempt to avoid infraction for this post, I think that this passive aggression is exactly what the PR team should be avoiding. I was hoping to find some good quality content in this thread but instead saw someone who is supposed to be the face of the group being easily triggered.

 

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions. We do already work on SEO related stuff, an example of SEO related things that already have been posted publicly is the No Man's Sky forum part. Your suggestions are noted though

Just kidding, of course. But to reply to your comment, we are all normal human beings. It is correct that we need to behave better than regular users, but a slip-up is easily made. Please note, however, that we (the PR-group) do our best to behave in such a manner that can and should be expected from us.

 

Post in Facebook groups relevant to games we service here on Sythe. In two minutes my post reached a potential 50,000 uses of Pokemon GO and league of legends. I think this is much more beneficial than social media account a half the community don't want to share on their personal accounts. Look at your lounge for examples. Some of my posts are there

I think, if feasible, we should see if we could have a member of our staff reach out to some of these other sites that strictly deal with the gaming aspect of games we discuss (in other words, no other market websites), and talk about doing some sort of affiliate program. Our staff could talk to their upper staff etc, hash out some agreement, and everyone wins. Just my two cents

 

My genuine suggestion is to add people that actually know what they're doing. You are doing this for a very large community but you're bringing on people that have absolutely no experience and there will be an extremely long learning curve before anything successful even gets implemented. This should be re-titled to include the word criticism because that will be your "Feedback" for a long time until it gets rolling.

 

Hey Gun, Thanks for showing your concern.

When vetting the applicants we made sure to choose members based on previous relevant experience in the PR field.

Without going into too much detail for obvious personal reasons.

• We have two people on our team currently going to post secondary for business/marketing.
• Our of our members currently works in a position where they are required to keep good business relations with customers and guests through various (local) social media platforms.
• One of our members was in charge of a large sythe gold sellers twitter.
