What I have noticed about Marijuana.

It really needs to be decriminalized ASAP

Legalizing it in moderation would be the best approach. If they just flat out legalized it and allowed people to buy pounds and pounds whenever they wanted it'd just be counter-productive. Issuing a card like a green card, except you could just go buy one at a Marijuana dispensary, and then scanning that card every purchase in order to determine how much marijuana you can purchase that week/month.

It would not be counter-productive since it would most likely be state-taxed, meaning more regulated purchases = more money for the government to spend. If quality is substantial enough in a legally regulated substance, then it will additionally cripple any informal markets associated with it. A large part of why it is still illegal is some of society's seemingly misinformed view of the substance. A government would not intentionally limit people from buying something it taxes if there are little to no negative effects as a result of its consumption, since it would decrease government revenue.

people will always smoke weed no matter what so they might as well tax it

[Breazzy]

It should be legal already.
