Should Marijuana be Legal?

I'm not sure how often this topic has been discussed in SFA, so I thought I would make a new thread about it.

The question is: Should Marijuana be legal or stay illegal in the US? If you determine it to be legal, should it be strictly for medical purposes, or be legal to everyone like cigarettes?

In my opinion, I believe Marijuana should become legal to everyone. Almost every person suffers from stress. Too much stress is never good, as everyone knows. Marijuana relaxes the body which in turn, reduces stress. Stress can cause harm on your body and other people also, both physically and mentally. Marijuana would relax your body from on the verge of going on a serial killer to being relax and chill.

One other point I would like to point out with making Marijuana legal, is that it would be taxable. Selling marijuana in gas stations, drug stores, etc would mean the government would be able to tax it, thus making the government being able to profit more money then it is now. Since marijuana is illegal in most states now, it means the only way marijuana would be sold would be on the streets. This means the government cannot tax it, thus making the government not able to bring in more profit in taxes.

Yes, weed is a drug and will always be a drug. And not all non-smokers will think it should stay illegal. I am a non smoker of the drug, but I feel like it should become legal. It is slowly becoming legal for medical purposes, so I'm wondering what will evolve from there.

 

should be legal and a lot of non smokers like myself and a lot of people in norml don't smoke are for legalization.

 

I don't really mind it so I would say legalize it.

Caffeine is a drug.
Aspirin is a drug.
Penicillin is a drug.

this again.. lol. Yes it should be legal, there's a ton of benefits that come from this plant, and not only from consumption.

 

Marijuana is one of the least dangerous drugs.

And it could make alot of money for the countries of the world if it were legalized and industrialized.

Cigarettes are also bad for the lungs but they are legal. Alcohol and many other legal substances can make people dysfunctional.

3: overprescription of medication can cause problems like senile dementia, but we still do it anyways.


you are also failing to take into account the fact that it is illegal at the moment.
you are not going to win any arguments about legalizing it by pretty much saying "we should legalize it because we already have a whole bunch of other self-destructive stuff legalized"

 

Personally,I smoke weed and I think it should be legal.
It's most definitely not a gateway drug,that's all based on a person's choice.
And it's only mentaly addictive,which again is based on the person smoking/consuming Marijuana.

Also just to add to the cause,there was a study at UCLA on people who smoke Marijuana have a less chance at lung cancer then people who DONT smoke and people who smoke tobacco.

also, this study was correlational, so we cannot say that weed CAUSES less cancer.

And I've learned all this by first hand experience,been smoking for years now and nothing negative has ever happend.

If your against smoking weed,why does your name represent it?
