SVU Requirements

Who decides quality members? Does this add more to the boatload of work staff already have on their plates? Who will control the deposit? Who deems who gets what in the event of a scam quit? Too many problems with this.

In addition, a 6 month probation period will likely discourage many new shops from opening.

 

Lets not make it harder than it has to be.

It is not hard to look at a member is see if he/she is quality, or not quality.
Does it add more to staff? Not really...
The deposit can be controlled in the same sense of donations. Just a different "Bank if you will"
In the event of a scam, Singular or multiple, it would be the same way as if you were asking for a pardon.
You pay the person/s back.
If it is one person and it is only 40 dollar scam. The rest is donated to the forums to better them.

If it is above 100, then at least the guy gets something back.

To argue it is not a good idea, is wrong. It is actually pretty simple to do, And provides quite a bit of extra security.
As for the "Shops" opening up, tough luck. If they cant wait 6 months to get SVU while still running their shop, they dont need it.

 

I think adding more requirements is unnecessary. As people have said, the SVU system was put in place the way it is now so that it is automated specifically, for a reason. Therefore, it should simply be removed.

 

It wont be removed, Like i said above, That would mean they would have to give refunds out.
I doubt that would happen.

I thinking adding to it to better it is a good idea. It is still pretty much automated.

Name change would be the best bet. There will be too many problems with refunding and unhappy people if they got rid of it. I am personally very fond of sythe established user.

 

That is a very valid point. What would you suggest the name be changed to?

Sythe Official User
Sythe Promoted User
Or just tell it how it is and say Sythe Authenticated User

 

All of those seem to give more trust than the rank actually means lol, which lands us right back in the same dilemma. I'm proposing something that conveys you provided a bit of extra information about yourself to obtain the rank

* Sythe Member
* Sythe devoted user
* Supplemental Sythe User

I got scammed by the user kyron and wasnt provided any of his info. He also said it was fake information over skype. Whats the point?

 

Lol, the best way to do it would probably just be a poll in the donor's lounge or something. See what everyone likes best.

Why not make it that you need to have a certain amount of vouches from selling before you can obtain SVU? You could add more requirements on if you had too, but that way you wouldn't be able to obtain the rank unless you well and truly deserve it.

Open a section to apply for SVU. Once you reach say 30+ or however many vouches, you can apply with a fee of $20 or something if needed.

SVU = Sythe Verified User. I don't really understand how so many people deem that as a trusted user because they're "verified". Shit, I have to verify my email to become a member on these forums.. All they've done is add a phone number and spend an extra couple of dollars on top of $25 donator... it's nothing special to me.

 

Mods and a couple admins pointed out that the whole purpose of SVU was to be an automated system; therefore, that would be counter intuitive based on the initial thoughts behind the system. Plus, who would manage all of that. Would the vouches need to be a certain quality?

And to answer your question, a random person comes and knows nothing about the forum and, like many people do, do not read everything about the whole website just to make a few trades. They see a "Sythe Verified User" and to many, even me, that rings that they have been verified by the website and are therefore legit. You can kind of see where that would go wrong.

 

Well, by the looks of the rank it already has gone wrong.. I'm seeing SVU's banned all over the place.
So a lot of people deem SVU as trusted?
You shouldn't be able to pay to become "trusted" on this website or ANYWHERE in my opinion, but hey my opinion isn't worth much lol.

What's stopping people from spending around $30, getting SVU, a few legit vouches then scamming? It wouldn't be hard to make more then what you spent in 1 scam now would it...

If people are like you said, joining and seeing a SVU and automatically think they're trusted because they haven't actually done their research on the site, then what's the chances of them being scammed? I'd say pretty high.

I was only suggesting an idea because it looks like the rank needs to be rethought.

 

For the love of god remove SVU, when a newcomer sees that somebody has "Sythe VERIFIED User" under their name they will immediately trust them because they are new and do not know better, it's that simple. Also dont expect someone who is new to a trading forum to do a bunch of background checks and shit and actually try to find out what an SVU is because if you expect everyone that is new to this site to do that you seriously have some fucking unrealistic expectations, like are you forgetting that they are newcommers? They are naive and they obviously don't know better.

Like seriously, any ban evader can just donate $25 and get SVU and then scam somebody a lot of money, why even risk that? Remove SVU.

 

If they remove it, most people will want a refund/reimbursement. Instead of going through all that trouble, all they have to do is change the title to accurately represent the rank.

 

I agree with changing the title of the rank.. Unless a staff member is actually verifying the user, it's a complete sham..

 

This i trusted kyron because other svus i traded with were legit. And then before that i scammed by another svu but didnt log the transaction. I lost 140m in one day from svus.
