SVU Requirements

Here's what I did:

Saw the rank, was curious on how to get it. Looked it up, saw it was worthless and an extra waste of money. Didn't do anything else.

Imo, this isn't a false sense of security, it just means you're who you say you are. Which doesn't really matter, some want to remain anon on the internet and some don't give a shit. This should be end of discussion as it means nothing. If you get scammed for stupid amounts of cash because you think SVU means trusted, you're a fool.

 

Your an idiot if you think all newcomers will do exactly what you did. Be realistic please, not all newcomers will do a background check on SVU.

 

This really isn't helping to move the conversation forward about changing SVU... Maybe have some more insightful comment as to some changes we can make so that the initial reaction to reading "Sythe Verified User" is more accurate with what it really means.

 

You guys are missing the point. Sure, a name change would be fine, but if someone is mislead into trust without looking into things and scammed because of it, it's their own fault. Just my opinion and i'm entitled to it.

It's like if you came across a phishing link. If you weren't sure whether it was a phishing link or not, you would investigate to ensure it isn't. Different context but same rule applies. If you're not sure what a rank means, then look into it. If you're scammed for not doing so, it's your own problem.

On the other hand, I do support a name change. People just should stop being so careless and less scams would occur.

 

The example is too different to be able to compare the two. Also, It's an official rank, and the Verified part is quite misleading. People will think that they are verified to trade by the website, and that obviously brings a lot of trust with that title. Unfortunate to see many people don't read up on this like you did, but it's best to make a move to prevent some scams in the future.

Exactly, instead of putting all of the fault on the people that get scammed by SVU's, we can easily just prevent it all together by removing it or changing the name to something more fitting.

It's not only their fault. If a newcomer comes to say hi and sees SVU, he'd think oh cool, I could trust him with like 50-100$, as he is verified. I'm pretty sure tho a true newcomer won't bother reading the rules to a-z.

Well people should be smart enough not to just see svu and be like oh I can trust this guy. There are people on here that are 300+ donors I don't even trust. Yes I understand that new members don't really understand. Anyways if its a big deal remove it or rename it. Idc either way honestly. As someone that is SVU just saying I wouldn't care if yall did something else.

Name change or whatever, I support, but if people get scammed its their own problem for not looking into things. I do think that a name change/removal of the rank will decrease scamming in relation to SVU assumptions, but I still feel it's the buyer/sellers fault if they get scammed because of false trust.

 

There's always a risk. However at least an SVU is a little more work for scammers. People get scammed by SVU every so often, but at least I'd rather go for an SVU than a random $5 donator that's barely above leecher status. I mean unless they're stealing identities (where so many gold sellers ask for ID now - wouldn't put it past people) they can only do it once.

 

Remove SUV completely, it gives users a false sense of security. If you want to keep it, improve the verification process such as providing a passport. (And actually take action against members who do scam...)

Do it right or remove it completely. If you won't do action against a scammer who is verified it's 100% pointless to have it anyways.

 

100% agree with you, SVU hardly even verifies anything the name is way too misleading. Can a staff member please put some input on this?

I think 8 pages of discussion is enough - I've seen a lot of the same ideas thrown around in the last few pages. Not many new ideas being contributed, with most on the same page that it needs to be scrapped or the name changed. Maybe it's time to get the ball rolling with mods talking about it?

Could it be something along the lines of "Identity Verified"? That's my understanding of SVU, to verify your identity.

 

Can someone just pm the guy who can do this? Its crazy how long this has been up for...
