Letting Power get to the Head

Weasel, I don't think we're referring to the dilapidation of friendships here. It's more centred around how staff treat other members. Friendship is irrelevant.

 

In all honesty the best way to fix an issue such as this is to talk to that person directly. If at that point they give you a hard time or do not take it well, then you go to a higher staff member.

 

SuF, not everyone lets dealing with complaints in a professional manner get to their heads. The fact that you think it would speaks more about your character than it does about anyone elses.

Firstly, you hardly talk to me EVER! and when you did it was about your ban, 9 times out of 10. Regarding IRC, I'm on the new IRC's all the time... I don't see you there, so you can't make an inform judgement on myself. You hardly knew the "old HamJank", I spoke to you about twice in the old IRC and it was about Spanish homework, which you gladly helped me with and I appreciate that. After that, IRC was shut down and you got into your own bother with Discovery,Kero etc...

I haven't changed, if anything I've matured up more then before. If you were one of my close friends on Sythe, you'd know that I was exactly the same as I was before, and after I became Mod (just with a few more responsibilities). I treat people exactly the same, if I've ever treated someone indifferent I apologise for that. I've never spoken a harsh word to anyone, even if they've angered me.

Regarding your question "Weasel why don't you like me...", I've asked you that once, I haven't asked you that several times, like you've exaggerated it to be. You left a comment in the staff feedback thread, so I was compelled to get a reason behind your feelings.

I'd like to leave a bit of feedback on YOURSELF, I feel that YOU cloud your own mind with ideas of people before they get a chance to prove themselves; you should open your horizons and not judge someone on 1 or 2 mistakes they may have made in the past. If we were to hold everyone accountable for one or two things they may have or have not said, the whole world would be in pandemonium. I like you Weasel, I like everyone on Sythe; I feel that you've changed since you've got unbanned - I think you perceive that people are not holding you in the same respect as before and that's changed your attitude.

 

I feel strongly about this with just more then sectionals.

 

Well, being vague about it isn't going to help anyone. If you have a complaint about a global or admin, then by all means feel free to share it.

Nonsense mate. They should be able to take criticism in a non negative way.

+1 for ya Bubba. Couldn't agree more. IMO the power just goes to the head. Not in a power-abusive way, but more in a "Ah, I got this and you didn't." Which leads to individuals thinking they're the shit. This seems to happen with the newer staff, not many/if any of the higher ups.

Talking to the individual works in some instances, and not in others. IMO this is not an instance it works in. If you go telling someone to get off their high horse, they pull "You're mad I'm a mod, You're mad I wouldn't help you, etc." card. I'd just completely bypass that step and approach a higher power. I find it easier to just ignore people though, if needed.

There job is to help around the forums..if they aren't fulfilling their duties they need to be demoted. Being a staff member isn't all about mod logs, they need to actually fill these "side requirements".

 

I definitely agree with this statement, as it seems mod logs are currently the primary basis for how mods are judged. However I think the right people notice it when mods do more than just the mod logs, so I think it all balances out.

 

Bump. The hard thing is "showing proof." Most of the time its just an attitude that has built up and most people don't video or screenie every conversation they have with a moderator so it makes it hard. Then when I do screenie one indecent it looks rather pathetic like "this only happened once?" Well no but like I said I don't record every convo with people.

I can think of 2 or 3 staff members that I feel about in this way, however I won't mention any names as it's just going to create unnecessary controversy. Sorry if this post seems like I'm trying to cause a conflict, just throwing out my '2 cents'.
