Another uninformed opinion, its not like species went extinct long before man came along right? I mean obviously we ran the dinosaurs out of the planet through planned orbital bombardments right? No this is an utter joke and fundamentally expresses my disgust with religion because that one statement is the epitome of every religion, that things done in the past you had no influence over are your fault and you need to repent.

I never said we need to repent for the things that happened in the past that we had no control over. I've never said we need to repent for anything at all.
Shoop said that the suffering experienced by people and animals is proof of God's inexistence. What I meant by my response was that God has nothing to do with the good or evil that happens in the world.

and to Malak,

at what point do you believe we'll have understood everything there is to know about the Universe? Once we've traversed and mapped every inch of it? Thoroughly understood things such as what Nero pointed (black holes), where the laws of physics break down? I mean, there has to come a point when observing ancient light just won't be enough (though that isn't to say is hasn't brought us far already).

I guess I can't entirely disagree with you when you say that it may be possible for man to understand these sorts of things some day. We have 4 billion years until the Sun explodes and annihilates the earth. We've come pretty far in the past century alone, and if we can refrain from wasting the planet before the Sun does, I think it’ll be pretty interesting to see how far we'll advance in the just the next millennium (granted you and I won't be alive then... unless we reincarnate into a new life ;))

And I don't mean to ignore your previous points, but as you noticed, my thought process works in terms of “what if”. As I said before, I really don’t believe it’s possible for us to attain “the truth”, so I prefer to withhold from settling on a resolute answer, and instead I think of all types of possibilities for what we and our existence could be. I know, it seems kind of pointless, but in the end I feel that’s all we ever do; we settle on beliefs that will possibly never be proven, regardless of whether they’re theistic or atheistic. We won’t know what the truth is, unless we die and find out there is an afterlife, and God (or Satan) reveals himself to us, in which case there’d be no way to reveal the knowledge to mankind. However, if there isn’t an afterlife and nothing really does happen upon our death, we still won’t know because, obviously, we’re dead. All the rebuttal I can offer for this subject will be hypothetical, and I could tell you all about my ideas on what I think the universe could be, but they'd sound pretty ridiculous, so I'll just leave it at that.

Also, I do not reject the concepts of natural selection, evolution, entropy, etc., and neither do I believe that God waved his hand and we appeared, I think it’s much more complex than we think it is.
I’m also open to the possibility of there being more than one God. However, to what extent they care about us I can’t say. For all we know they might give as much thought to our existence as we give to that of a dust mite.
On a related note, isn’t the reason we see the Earth (and the Universe, for that matter) as it is, because of how we’re anatomically built? We share the same world with insects and other animals who see the same things we do, but in different ways? Say I’m looking at a lava lamp. Instantly, I know what it is, it’s purpose, how it works, it’s parts, and pretty much anything there is to know about it. Now if an ant comes along and sees the same lamp, not only is it going to perceive a completely different image, but it won’t have the slightest idea of what it’s looking at, right?
You can take whatever you want out of that comparison, or just wait for Annex to rip apart my logic lol.

Glitched thread.

You need to stop reading all those chemistry/biology books lol...it cant explain
religion and if it does you probably gonna answer back with another chemistry/bioligy story

Story?
So you don't believe in perfectly rational hypothesis which makes sense and which tries to explain something in a reasonable and simplistic manner yet you believe in a highly inaccurate book full of fairy tales and "miracles" which was written and chosen amongst many other books by man.

Shame...
Ignorance is bliss knowledge is power.

No, No such thing, stop donating to your church. It's a scam.

The question is hard and there is no way in hell to prove if there is God or not.
But as a muslim I believe that God Exist. As well as I believe that he made us, and that we are going back to him after death.

What if we honestly don't care? I don't even think about this, just because it's a question with an indefinite answer. You can have an opinion, but in the end no matter what scientific or religious "proof" you can provide is pointless as the answer is beyond our knowing.

Not really, one of them is right. I'm leaning towards Buddhism(Branch of Hinduism). Mainly because it makes the most sense and I actually get results(Meditation, Telekinesis). Looking at it from a christian standpoint is completely stupid and won't get you anywhere. No wonder you guys are atheist because you are only exposed to stupid bullshit. I know what idea i have of christianity. When you die ALL OF A SUDDEN you're in somewhere burning or in a place of luxury. Fucking dumb. They acknowledge ALIENS. LOL. Angels from the sky? Fucking blindfold. Aliens bro. I'm positive Humans/Human like beings have been here for hundreds of thousands of years. They're finding temples under the oceans. Atlantis was just a city that eventually sank due to the natural events of the earth.(They probably saw it coming and dug underground). Hey maybe that's where they are? close enough to the core to live, and still live. Any species. They do say the Devil/Hell is down there.. LOLOL.

All these sad fucks being corporate brainwashed out the ass i can't even begin to describe to you. "Hey i'm hungry lets go get some candy, hey i'm hungry lets go get some mcdonalds. Holy shit i'm like the only one that goes to get fruit for a snack. How the fuck can you look at Reefer Madness and not think SOMETHING IS UP HERE. Wtf Hemp can do anything ANY OF THESE INDUSTRIES CAN DO. How the fuck can you look at nikola tesla's Biography, AND ALL OF HIS PATENTS AND NOT THINK SOMETHING IS GOING ON HERE. ARE YOU PEOPLE STUPID? THEY DO FUCKING CHEMO THERAPY WHAT THE FUCK. And I got a water report from my city. there's Fluoride, Arsenic, Lead, uranium(prolly doesn't matter) and bunch of other shit. Fucking fluoride in my food, water, toothpaste. Why the fuck do i want industrial waste in my water. Reminds me of the oblongs on adult swim with them being all fucked up from the water they had while all the rich corporations had clean water clean food and big ass houses. We're getting tricked hardcore. Jesus went to India to learn how to Meditate. This is exactly what Einstein and Gandhi were thinking. And how do you explain people being born amazing at math and instruments? Lmao even Star wars explains it perfectly. Yoda is a boss.

They say that events in the bible are taking place in america and we're being farmed or some shit(concentration camps[mainly because the bible is a fucking 2000 year plan, and that america is a plan from the start. Look at how many rights they've taken away. Fucking no guns allowed in Chicago? Fucking Cali going from 7th largest economy in the world to dirt ass poor]). Lmfao, with the possibilities I wouldn't doubt it. Look at how america is, it's the only one capable of doing what it's doing, and being how it is. Religion is a blindfold. Spirituality is real. The "Holy spirit" is just the energy inside of you. I was talking to my friend and he was calling me crazy.. And he think he was poked in the tummy by a human being in the sky???? WHAT THE FUCK. And prayer is a form of MEDITATION! That's why you fucking idiots are getting tricked, and brainwashing other people that don't even believe to see such an idea as that formed. (I used to be atheist, then agnostic..) "Oh I got touched by god.. I'm going to be happier now and forget all about it, now i know everything about god". Remember when I told you how I would smoke weed and lay down and concentrate energy into a spot of my body before I even knew what the fuck it was? For Nights and nights I was doing it, making it move throughout my body. It felt like warmth inside of you. Like a little energy ball. And when you clear your mind and just FEEEEL.. It go somewhere in your body, it will go. From the tips of your toes to your nose. lul. Now I can do it without weed every night. I can do TK WAY more often now, possibly in front of people. It's like these movies and shit are trying to tell us something. Not all.. But some. Of course there are bullshit ones, just as there are movies telling us what we should know, there are some to do the opposite.

No, No such thing, stop donating to your church. It's a scam.
Agreed yes it is. Donating for cancer cures research as well. And vaccines

It is practically impossible for us to understand absolutely everything, and be sure that we understand absolutely everything because the Universe is expanding at a rate faster than we can keep up with. To answer your question practically however. We create hypothesis and we require a certain standard of evidence before we regard them as scientific 'facts'. This is a high standard of evidence. Now, of course it is possible for us to have gotten it wrong but there must be some logical or evidential reason to back this scepticism up; would you not agree that it is reasonable, for skepticism to be taken seriously, that it have some logical or evidential basis, for example: Evolution is wrong because it's possible someone intelligent is controlling it (BAD); Evolution isn't quite right because x piece of evidence doesn't conform to what Evolution predicts (GOOD).

I guess I can't entirely disagree with you when you say that it may be possible for man to understand these sorts of things some day. I cannot wait to learn more about space!

I think I've addressed some aspects of this above. I will circle back however to the existence of God.

God either exists, or he doesn't exist. I take it you agree with this statement.
Knowing whether God exists, or doesn't exist is a form of knowledge. Hopefully you agree with this.
Knowledge is discovered through your epistemology, which is basically your method of obtaining knowledge.

So, can I ask, what is your method of obtaining knowledge?

Also, I do not reject the concepts of natural selection, evolution, entropy, etc., and neither do I believe that God waved his hand and we appeared, I think it’s much more complex than we think it is.
I’m also open to the possibility of there being more than one God. However, to what extent they care about us I can’t say. For all we know they might give as much thought to our existence as we give to that of a dust mite.
Possible, but as I've mentioned above it's unreasonable skepticism.

On a related note, isn’t the reason we see the Earth (and the Universe, for that matter) as it is, because of how we’re anatomically built? We share the same world with insects and other animals who see the same things we do, but in different ways? Say I’m looking at a lava lamp. Well. There are two things we need to establish: Existence is primary, Consciousness is secondary.
What that means is existence exists independent of consciousness, for example, when I die, you will continue to live in the same existence. The reason for this is because consciousness is secondary, my consciousness interprets existence and cannot affect it in any way shape or form (other than my actions of course).

With that in mind. We know that humans have a consciousness capable of understanding existence. We know insects and animals do not.

The question: Does God exist?
There are only two possible answers:
God exists.
God does not exist.

These answers are are not 'beyond our knowing'.

No shit. But people call it "God" for some reason. As if it's a person, or a physical being. Which it's not.

Generally people assume that when you say god you mean something like the Christian or Muslim god.

Not sure what to make of this. I know that there are only two possible answers, but what I said is that I don't really care either way; what happens, happens.

How so? The only real way to find out is by dying, and even then we might not know. We could exhaust all of our scientific abilities and find out that the universe could have been created without a God (which there are already several theories saying such), but in the end he could have designed it that way because he's fucking God and can do whatever he wants to do. If there is a God, and he created us, I'm pretty sure that he is of higher intellectual ability than us.

What I believe in is simply this: nothing. There could be a God, and there could not be, I simply do not care. Like I stated previously, whatever happens, happens and I don't believe that me believing a particular way will effect my outcome after death.

Considering the Bible is the main source of truthful information of 'God', he can't be proven unexistant because he is described in a way that we can never prove he doesn't exist by eliminating.

I quite agree with this. If there was a god then, god being an omnipotent entity capable of seeing every angle of the universe and being able to control it all, it could all be a setup in a sense. Arguing god is a pointless waste of time, as this thread has shown. The subject of an entity that encompasses all isn't a debate that can be won or lost. Ignosticism is the best way to go. Just don't care.

The answer to the question could mean the difference between heaven and hell which is very important.

Wow that's like the most ignorant thing you could do. No wonder you're so narrow minded.

I would tend to say I do not believe in God, especially in any religiously defined god... however one of my hobbies is to just sit in my mind and theorize about different possibilities.

One of them being:

Humans (intelligent [at least we think we are]) could be thought to have created worlds ourselves. People tend to not think like this but what do you think the video games are that we have created? Call of duty, Runescape, SIMS, etc. These could be considered worlds all to themselves. Sure it may not seem plausible to typical humans that these could be considered "real" worlds, but they are. Sure humans would debate that they are not worlds because they have flaws x, y, and z. However the flaws could not be valid. We could not expect every idea of a "real" world to parallel the properties of the world WE live in. Maybe in some worlds you don't need to sleep (call of duty), maybe in some worlds dragons really exist (RUnescape), and maybe some worlds are nearly identical parallels of our own (SIMS). In the case of SIMS, it can be seen that the world resembles our own very closely but we can see that free will does not exist as the human players are the ones who control the in game entities. Now, this is where someone could conclude that a possibility of our own existence could be just like this. We could, in fact have been created by a more intelligent entity, energy, species, or whatever you want to say... and free will could be merely an illusion. We could be controlled by another. Sure, it sounds incredibly far fetched and not possible...we cannot see the "creators" etc., but neither can those "people" in SIMS.

To instantaneously disregard such a possibility would be ignorant and just plain foolish.

I am not saying I believe that ^....but it is merely a possible theory.....and yeah i could come up with 1000 more just as "possible". And by possible i mean at least as possible as some "God" defined by current religions on this earth.

I do remain agnostic/atheist because as Malakadang would say, at this moment in time there is no empirical evidence to support this.
