Can you cause your own death?

I don't know if this counts, but, With what you said about if you think your sick you will become sick. A friend of mine took "shroomz" one time. We were hanging out with some friends and said he looked sick to mess with him. Later that night he was tweaking about it forever. Finally he started getting a runny nose, puffed up, got all red, got a headache, and the following day after he was still sick with the same symptoms. He ended up being fine of course but he was perfectly fine before, and during when taking the shroomz. Idk, maybe it doesn't really count, just thought it might be interesting.

And if she had a stroke, she couldn't have caused it herself. Do you even know what a stroke is? It's when your brain doesn't have enough oxygen or blood so you lose functions and end up passing out. She can't make herself do that.

 

We can control our vital organ. Meditation and deep controlled breathing will decrease your heart rate, and you can control your breathing. We can't stop our vital organs but we can control many of them.

The human mind is still a huge unknown, nothing we know today can be proven, only disproven, in the future.

 

If we can control our vital organs to control breathing, it still doesn't justify the fact that we can stop them, meaning you couldn't kill yourself in that respect.

The mind isn't an organ, so I am not sure where this is going.

 

The brain is an organ... Maybe in the future we will tap into the true power of the brain.

 

It does. Think of the Placebo effect. Experiments have shown that patients with REAL illness have been cured with fake drugs because they thought they were cured. If you think you are sick, you may actually get physically sick because of it. Maybe it works the same with death.

Technically it is possible to stop your heart with your mind, but I won't get into that. But, it is possible to cut off blood (and as a result, oxygen) to the brain, so technically she could have made herself to that. I'm not saying she committed suicide, but she could have.

No. You are not killing yourself if you shoot yourself with a gun. A gun kills you, you just pull the trigger.

I think... You can actually die by wanting to. I believe in a soul and there might be a point in a person's life where the soul is damaged to the point where he/she loses the will to live. In your mind, you could be dead. I think the reason why we live everyday is because we want to live. Yes, some people want to die some point in their life but the next day comes and they forget about it. I'd hypothesize that if you think that way for a series of periods, at a consecutive interval, your will to live dies and so do you. Might it be mentally or completely, it's death through collapsing.

 

Then that would mean extreme depression would be the cause of death for many, instead of suicide.

 

Possibly; If it goes untreated for a long period of time, consecutively.

Let's analyze the symptoms:

Depression= eating disorders? If you won't, or can't eat, you'll die.

Other symptoms:

You might forget where you are and get hid by a car. You might forget where you are or what you're suppose to do an starve. Etc.

 

Those are rather literal interpretations.

Depression does not cause an eating disorder so much as eating less and the urge not to eat. You will still eat little bits when it becomes too much to bear, but it won't cause you to stop eating in most cases (it is rare that the depressed stop eating but it has happened).

Also, they mean short term memory loss as in "where did i put my keys" or "why did i go to the grocery store again?" If you were in a city and you were depressed, you wouldn't remember why your there or perhaps yes where you are, but you retain basic function. You remember things that you've already known, but can't remember temporary "to do lists" that you make in your head.

 

Well, People often say "There letting go." Or that there not fighting anymore. Often people with Cancer. I personally don't know. A few people claim that they can.

 

Eating less? It's like a sad punisher setting personal rations for yourself (depression= less food consumed. Look what it did the the Jews. They were fed, just not fully enough. How many died from starvation?

Well I guess it doesn't really make sense but at this point in your depression, your normal personality, stated in the article above ^^^, is blocked by a depressing punisher. It's not the Nazis but you're still harming yourself. Starvation could happen, unknowingly, even if you do ration small proportions.

 

Coincidences are bound to occur as Finn said. I don't believe you can cause your own death just by thinking about it. By just sitting there and thinking "Kill me, kill me, kill me" you most likely won't die.

 

On a global scale, odd coincidences are often going to occur.

We have made it a point that it was most likely a coincidence that my great grandma died 2 hours before her 90th.

It has moved onto now more the power of the brain and the control it has over the body.
