Atheism is a stupid term/philosophy

Atheism is not a way of life. It is sort of the opposite. There's no such thing as an atheist holiday, atheist church, atheist tradition, or atheist...food...the word atheist isn't even kept capitalized, meaning it's not really a religion...just a disregard for it.

That could be misunderstood as just not believing one god as opposed to believing in multiple gods which would make that statement wrong.

People misconstrue atheisms real meaning and just think it means you don't believe in God but really it is a lot more than that. I prefer the term agnostic anyways.

 

Basically by saying you are an agnostic you are saying you think rationally. It is irrational to belief in a supreme being when there is no proof. A 2000 year old book doesn't count as proof. If you belief that Jesus rose from the dead after three days you don't believe in science and therefore are not a rational thinker.

That is because most atheists are 13 year old kids who browse /b/ and just like to say they don't believe in god to be a rebel or whatever their reasons are.

I like how some people on this site are so stupid that they don't even know how to talk about a topic, so they just post vague nonsense on it to raise their postcount.

In short while Christianity and many other religions have both a belief and a specific practice, atheism has a belief but no specific practice.

I'm not going to waste my time reading or responding to the many ignorant posts I'm sure permiate this thread, but most of the intelligent "atheists" do not consider themselves atheists because they know that atheism is impossible to prove. They call themselves agnostics, which means they believe there may, or may not, be a god or gods. To be an "atheist" is to have faith that there is no god even though it is impossible to prove.

 

The point you are missing is that a lot of ignorant children think they can be considered "cool" if they are atheists. This is partially true since there are many other ignorant children willing to consider them "cool" for that. Many of the teenaged "atheists" are, for the time, being atheists for the sole purpose of looking "cool" and rebelling. Regardless if there is any validity in atheism, the point is a lot of kids do what they think it takes to be "cool" or rebel. This is obvious whatever your viewpoint is on God.

 

Don't pull the "this is obvious" crap.

1. Atheism isn't a religion, your categorical analysis is unapplicable. This is no better than saying "This apple tastes sour, therefore all apples must be sour".
2. The "cannot be proven" argument is just as applicable to both atheists and theists alike.
3. I really laugh if you think the "Atheism is cool, religion is not" sort of argument is worthy on any sort of debating level.

I am non-biased towards both sides, I am neither athiest nor religious. So I do not affiliate with which ever side is better or right

 

Theism is equally impossible to prove, does that make it stupid too? Both sides are just viewpoints, neither side has ever presented a single real fact. Atheists just look at the world the way it is and reject the idea that a god has any role in it. Other than that, it's not really a way of life.

 

Atheism isn't a negative word!
It isn't about what you don't believe in it's about what you believe, in this case if we take God for an example an atheist is someone who chooses to believe in the no existence of God.

Yes, I suppose I'm technically agnostic, but jesus, I'm also agnostic about unicorns, leprechauns, and other fairy tales. I call myself an atheist because there is probably no god.

 

I'm an atheist and I only don't believe in a different religion because it sounds so farfetched and unbelievable.

 

I LOVE when people say, "I don't have a religion I'm atheist!".

Obviously you do have a religion then.

 

We all believe in one thing or another, just because they don't believe in God doesn't neccessarily mean that they don't give meaning to life.
