[APPROVED/REVIEW] Community events and cheating

I believe that Sythe should be tougher on people that decide to cheat in events, especially if there is just hard cash involved. If they are willing to fabricate evidence for their own monetary gain then I don't personally see them far from a scammer but opinions on this may differ person to person.


Although I think we can all agree that just a ban from community events is not enough of a punishment when you are trying to lie your way into gaining 50$ and you are ruining a community event.


I think that we should discourage this kind of behavior with a harsher punishment.

 

A ban from all future events is enough in my eyes.

A ban or TWC on the entire site which could affect a lot of things doesnt seem fair for cheating in a community event. Cheating is bad of course and I am glad others look for it as well. Cheating and scamming are just two different playing fields to me

 

You're willing to do an illegal thing to win the event which is already bad, what more will they do? They need to be banned from further events or even a TWC added to their account.
You're "scamming" other people for a chance for 1st place, and the money that comes with it ofcourse.

 

Think of all of the people that are new, usually do services and have no interest in taking part of the community and are in it just to scam. I bet they would love a shot at 50$ with no conseuqences when caught cheating. This punishment doesn't mean shit and people will not respect the authority in these events which will create a lot more work for CDT and staff who are doing those events.

EDIT: Didn't mean any offense towards people who are new and provide services, you can ofcourse be legit when doing those things but that is just what I have seen ban evaders do the most.

 

Agreed. There should be a punishment to discourage this. I've made it a bit harder for people to join these events and these people will only make it harder to submit entries for future participants who don't cheat.

 

Support, I suggest a temp ban (couple days)/TWC + 6 month ban from future events.

In these situations, I believe its better to be harsh in order to scare away people who think they can undermine these community events and pretty much steal prize money.

 

I don't support marketplace restrictions for cheating in events, this is a blackmarket/cheating forum. You're literally in a community full of people that cheat at games. Do you really expect every event to be full of self-controlled angels?

No, we don't. That's the entire premise of this suggestion.

 

This is not about having moral high ground or anything like that. Sythe is civilized forum and has rules against fucking over other members of the community, by cheating you are taking prize money from the people who should have won. If cheating were allowed in these events I wouldn't have any problems with people cheating but it is not. Rules are rules and they need to be enforced properly, if you can't follow the rules then you have no place here.

 

I believe when I was in CDT we have a thread with users who cheated and their ban lengths. I think that its adequate enough that they are banned from all events for a period of time, as it usually discourages them from doing so after. We are a black market forum, so I think actual market bans are uncalled for as it not only hurts the individual but it hurts the site as well. As far as individuals trustworthiness, I suggest you make the CDT thread with the bans and such public so all users can see. That would harm their own reputation without damaging the sites usage and potential income/market

 

Are there really that many people doing this that banning them temporarily would damage the site?
Even if there is, a harsher punishment is for that, discouraging this kind of behaviour.

Cheating in an event, especially for monetary gain SHOULD hurt the individual's business/reputation.

Guys lets not get carried away here - It's $50 normally max.

It's not like we are talking about a large sum of money - We are talking about an irrelevant amount almost in 99.9% of events that happen. Most of the people who cheat spend more time actually cheating then they stand to gain from the prize. If your stupid enough to risk cheating than that's your choice.

The current punishments seem fine to me.

 

Why does the $ amount matter lol, i.e. in another scenario: scam $5 or scam $5k its still the same punishment.

What even is the punishment for cheating in CDT events anyways, they need to be more clearly stated. Its very in the air at the moment.
Maybe we don't need to raise the punishment, just make it more publicly available.

 

What are half the people on this thread talking about? COMPETITION CHEATING HAS A RULE. IT'S HAD A RULE FOR HALF A DECADE.

It's literally in the rules that this is the punishment(Which like half the people on this thread apparently don't know):

Anyone found cheating in/manipulating competitions or other such events will be punished:

• 1st Offense - One month competition ban
• 2nd Offense - Two month competition ban
• 3rd Offense - Perm Ban from competitions

All of these will include an automatic disqualification from the competition and the user will be given the "BANNED FROM COMPETITIONS" user title

 

Okay hold your horses no need to get so agitated, not everyone has read through the entire glossary of sythe rules.
Every section has a clear sticky, inside of which are the given section's rules, for ease of access. The community general section's rules have nothing on competitions. [READ BEFORE POSTING] Information and Rules
All i was suggesting was to make the rules more accessible, such as by adding competition rules to the Community General's section rules.

 

It's in the official rules - How much mor accessible can it get? It's not staff's problem if you cant read.

 

A recent cheater hasn't been sanctioned accordingly to the sythe official rules. What say you?
