[APPROVED/REVIEW] Community events and cheating

Cutting corners doesn't amount to scamming in my eyes

 

I never took part in any of these events but it shows for sure that people cheating in these events have questionable intentions within the community.
Probably just slap them with a TWC for 1 month , seems like a common thing these days :|

 

It's not scamming, but it shows you have bad intentions. You're willing to lie and cheat. That's pretty much as close as you can get to scamming. Doesn't warrant a ban because it isn't scamming, but at least a TWC for showing such behavior when it comes to money. I have proof of one guy saying he used a program to speed up snake because it was too slow then another day he said he used it for another game completely and not for snake.

 

People who cheat in competitions hosted on Sythe that involve prizes should be TWC at the very least, 1 month ban + TWC would be ideal though.

No we get told that people wouldn't be TWC'd for cheating events and the only thing we could do was ban them from future events.

 

Its pretty trashy when someone decided to cheat on a community event especially when folks put hard time and effort into putting it together. It really shows that whomever does it doesn't respect not only other peoples time but they have no integrity or respect for themselves. Some sort of punishment should be handed down honestly id rather deal with a thief than a liar and cheater.

 

How is cheating/scamming different, cheating is having the same intent as scamming. If you are cheating to win 50$ let's say if u log on to a runescape account with 200$ are they not going to take it? I believe a hard punishment for cheaters would sound a clear message out.

 

Dq from any further events and a twc at the very least, events are hosted for the community so if you are cheating in those you are basically scamming the community

 

I completely agree with this suggestion, as we do not condone of cheating, or users getting an edge over others in community events.

What are some guidelines / punishments you would like to see increased? I would love to hear people's opinions on some guidelines or punishments.

 

TWC. I believe it's perfectly reasonable to give someone who attempts to cheat a TWC. This is usually paired with lying as they'd deny cheating until caught.

 

I think:

If not 100% certain of foul play:
CDT is able to ask anyone suspected of cheating to re-record game play in a more suitable format, to resolve any suspicion of cheating.

100% certain of foul play:
DQ + ban from future events for 3 months. Permanent ban from events if repeat offender.

Further lying about not cheating:
TWC for 2 weeks.

@CDT / @BlackBlasses , if you want someone on your team who is proficient in ways people may cheat simple html games and can confidently identify as such, i.e. through video editing, cheat engine, inspect element/console programming, holla at your boy. Seems looking back at past events, a lot of foul play has slipped through the cracks.

 

@Champ I feel applying the same punishment as people who send bad PMs is fair. In my opinion it should be a TWC that can be removed presenting vouches after 1 month and a 3 month ban from participating in community events , this should be more than enough to keep people away from cheating.

If someone cheats and after being infracted decide to cheat for a 2nd time , another TWC should be apply but instead of a 3 month ban from community events make it 6.

Lastly If someone cheats 3 times (I dont see this happening , with first infraction we should be gucci) the guy is probably beyond salvation so just TWC for a longer period like 3 months maybe and have him permanently banned from community events.

 

Yeah that seems fair, But they should receive a lifetime ban instead of 6 months for the community events. More harsher the punishment No one will cheat as it won't be worth it.

 

Not a sythe event, just an event hosted through sythe, it is the hosts discretion on what they would like to do, no support

 

I personally think that if you're 100% certain of foul play/cheating, a 1 month TWC + ban from future events for 1 year.

 

That doesn't make any sense to me, cheating in a community event for monetary gain shows bad ethics and thus should be punished and/or announced to prevent it and let people know that you should be careful when dealing what that individual.

i agree punishment should be harsh but definatly not "DNT" warning as its not really a scam and is different from it

 

Increase the punishment, try hard cheaters are weiners
