Why is believing in a God bad?

Agreed, with that being said, however, you can assume that the perspective of which he is speaking is society's standards. Basically the question needs to be rephrased to "Why is believing in the wrong God for your region bad?" but from that you'll get a great variation of answers.

The question makes sense if you're just in general asking, but like Sythemassa said, there's no point of view in which you are asking.

But the question he raised is why the prevailing school of thought regarding faith is its:


useless(debatable),


ignorant(immaterial as rationality cant argue irrationality),


and its actually bad(ignorance that fails to hold the people accountable for their crimes, rather than their guiding notions).

Put in those literal terms, who thinks it's good? Sounds like insanity.

Go to a church, ask who can do this calculus problem. Do the same at a Scientology church. Compare. Also, www.google.com . Search atheist to theist intelligence and be surprised by the answer.

Personally, I don't believe in free will. Think about how we make decisions, and how an "all knowing being" could predict those decisions.

 

Tbh, believing in god is not bad at all, because it teachs you moral values, not saying that you cant learn the same values w/o god, but it is less likely that someone w/ god in their life would kill someone. If you do not believe in a god of any sort, that is completely up to you, but i do not believe that you should look down on people or try to change peoples mind b/c they believe in a god.. thats just as bad as being racist.. if you see a christian and start asking questions like "Is there any proof", thats basically the same as seeing a Iraqi and asking "Which airport today?" It's morally wrong. And, Can you actually prove that there isnt a god? thats your belief.. The world is awfully balance :/ in ways that some scientists cant explain.. plz explain how. It's all really your upbringing, if your parents brought you to church every sunday, your more likely to believe in god, same as if your parents brought you to every baseball game of your favorite team, you are more likely to like the game of baseball, its really values and morals.. and some people obviously lack both,....

 

I am an atheist. I don't believe that people who believe in God are unintelligent, however i do believe spending your whole life devoted to something you have no proof of other than a book, which has been edited so many times throughout the years that it may not even be close to the original text, is quite stupid. If you choose to believe in God to make your life seem like it's worth something then i say have an enjoyable life but don't spend your time doing, or not doing, things that you would normally do without church. That's why i have a negative view towards the believe in God.
