I play violent video games every fucking moment I'm on my Xbox 360.
Gears of War has you shooting shotgun blasts at eachother, until one of the players gets graphicly blown in half, and after playing hour after hour on the weekends, I don't feel like going up to somone and shooting them in half.
Crackdown has you in a GTA like setting, except the only difference is that your a cop, and you can jump 50 feet in the air. But other than that, you can still shoot/grenade up anybody you want on the streets, and after I play a couple hours of that game, I never wanna go outside and shoot up my neighborhood.
So, why is it so influent on kids and even some adults?
Here's a simple rule I take for video games.
I'll buy games that aren't related to the real world at all.
The GTA series takes this waaaaay to far, which is why I hate there fucking games. In fact, try applying this to video games, compared to real life. What if someone came in your neighborhood with some sort of firearm and exsplosive, and started shooting up everyone you knew (Your family, your friends, even yourself). Pretty fucking scary huh? Cause you know what? Even though the chances are one in a thousand, any fucking maniac can do this.
Compared to violent game like Halo and Gears?
Well, when was the last time you saw a gunfight on the news that involved the Covenent and Locust? When was the last time you saw somone jump 50 feet in the air, building to building? When was the last time you saw on the internet weapons like plasma beams and "Hammer of Dawns"?
So in reality, there is no excuse if you go out and kill people, and blame it on violent video games. Most games aren't really realistic, except for the GTA series (And what I'm talking about in GTA is just part of a fraction), and maybe a couple others that I'm forgetting, but it's still not real.
If you are influenced by some game, then you have some serious issues, and need to go find some help.
