What kind of question is that? What makes you think that people will just get over that rush and think to themselves "Wow, now that Im done killing pixelized people, Ill take a crack at the more solid kind..." I mean seriously. I disagree with the idea that video games have to be violent to be fun. I think there are lots of games not focused on killing people that are pretty great. But even if the game is violent.... That doesnt mean after you win that youll be over that rush and wanna take violence to real life. I think its too hard to generalize people that way at all firstly and secondly I think out of all the people that play violent video games, there arent anywhere near enough of them that have killed people to justify a question like that. Plus, all the people that kill others dont even play video games. So why do people still worry about the damn GAMES so much?

Lol theres a ton of violence in video games. Oh and btw runecape isnt the only video game out there. X-BOZ FTW!!!!!

I wasn't really refering to Runescape as the graphics are so pathetic, I don't think anyone realises whether its a violent game or a if a circle is bouncing off a square.

Yeah, i played this one game though some people would call really violent, forget what its called but when you killed someone all their blood splashed up on the screen so you couldn't see anything at all, pretty lame game. Therefore violent games AREN'T ALWAYS awesome. But in general; yes, yes they are.

you can find a scapegoat for any situation, just like parents are blamed for a childs bad behaviour when there are never any cops *where I'm from* on the road.

People have killed others and they needed an answer to it all and said "these killings are like this game because he shot is gun in a similar fasion" or "if he hadn't played a video game he wouldn't have used a revolver to kill that drug dealer" or whatever.

The thing is, life siuations outside video games are what cause violence, murder, etc.
You don't play street fighter II and say "I'm gonna go fight billy!", nor do you play WoW and say "I'm gonna go kill animals" then go kill your cat with a letter opener.
No, when bills are coming in but money isn't, or your dads locked up, mums too high to do anything, there's nothing to eat and you need money to buy food, that's when you say "man, I'm gonna rob that drug dealin' nigger down the road'.

Video games don't account for ones aggression either. To me, aggression isn't something you learn - its something your born with.

You would have to be pretty retarted to actually attempt some of the stunts on video games.

My personal opinion on this matter is simple.

Violence in video games does give people ideas. It does entertain people, it does sometimes make them want to act out in a real life scenario what they see going on. Occasionally, someone gets an urge to just act out stealing a car from Grand Theft Auto.

However, most people when they are growing into young adults know the difference between right and wrong. Most young adults have been taught from mommy and daddy whats nice and whats not. Violence shouldn't be censored or any of that matter in any video games. When a person wants to act out a video game, kill someone, or take their car, they have to make the decision to do so. It's not like someone just wakes up, and is like "Holy shit GTA is so awesome I wanna be just like Cj!"

It doesn't work that way. If someone has rage and anger, and wants to fuck someone up, all video games do is just give them ideas on how to do it.

Especially children.

Video games are used as a scapegoat is a good point.

I think this ends the thread with most people agreeing that violent video games are not to blame. Unless someone else has a really good point blaming video games.

Ya, video games are awesome, violence just makes the game better. The violence in video games does not affect the way we act.

I'v notice when my little bro have been playing gta's with hes friends they became active and kind of energy and stars to talk about killing and then comes the fighting and wrestling.. games do effect children way different as the movies..

and does he meet the age rating?

well gta is rated to 18? but in other games I'v noticed the same thing

I don't think there is violence in videos game. I mean come on, its just pixels. Parents complain that videos games have to much violence and want them banned in certain areas, but for what? If their child has done something violet they would blame it on the video game instead of their child. It is obvious that their child had violent intension's, isn't that the reason why they bought the game? A lot of people play violent video games and would never do such things in real life because they realize it is all just a game and they can get away with it in the game. In general I'm saying that game aren't violent, just the people with violent intentions.

Hm. I've heard about this many times, yet never brought myself to posting anything about it. I currently own the game Scarface. In the game, you can blow off limbs, which is entertaining. Though, as entertaining as it may be, most people have the common sense to not go out and try what they see in a video game. For people like myself, killing something in a video game saves me from killing someone in real life. You still see the blood, you still hear the scream.

One thing I think is funny though, people complain about violence in video games causing violence in real life. If that were the case, what about racing games where you can jump ramps and such? Wouldn't that cause deaths as well?
