Utilize the Trade With Caution rank more.

@cronos.

You never responded to my post. Practicing safe trading can honestly save a lot of people the bullshit. AND get scammers banned. What's the big deal about making a folder and screecapping trades ? That will solve the problems that you're bitching about.

Yeah, practicing safe trading can save a lot of people the 'bullshit', but whats your point exactly? If everyone could be universally on one level, virtually every problem on the face of this earth would cease to exist. It's a shame, i agree with you, that members can be ignorant enough to overlook the rules, disregard the precautionary measures set out for them, and pursue an unsafe trade. I myself am guilty of dismissing rules set out for me, and making a post that didn't meet expectations in the suggestions forum. I was rightfully given an infraction.

Point is, most people aren't going to instantaneously adapt to the rules, and many will become victims. Those that are exploiting the sheer ignorance of new members should be dealt with. This all comes back to assessing a scam report by the context of the situation. We're going in circles.

The reason these cases are denied is because the "evidence" can be faked in a matter of minutes. We can't offer any punishment for these unless there are multiple reports for the same offense that are not apparently from the same person.

yes! Someone could plot a scam, most likely a scam artist, and will fake the proof and lie through his/her teeth to get out of trouble.

The judicious verbiage abound within this thread proves not thine fuss but turns you into an ass and a know-it-all. If one was scammed then it is most likely ones own fault, be it neglect, impatience, or general stupidity. There are practices and precedents set in place to prevent this sort of thing, and if a person does not follow these practices it is their own fault. There are stickies everywhere for the trading practices; people have wrote numerous volumes on the practice of safe trading and if someone does not take the time to read before leaping into the community head first then they will be scammed. Most of us have been scammed before, and it is a trial and error process. You learn the correct things to do and you learn to spot something that is too good to be true. You aren't going to sell your gold to someone offering 1.00 USD per mill when the market price is only .40 cents per mill, that is blatantly ridiculous and if they are scammed because of that then it is their fault.

The staff hand out plenty of TwCs, but since it is apparent you want more - why don't we all get one? There is a risk that everyone will scam. That settles the problem, the staff won't need to give out TwCs anymore and can start answering pointless suggestions like this more often.

You're right, barbarisms and all. What began as a strident request blew out of proportion, the resulting negative reception was a bit confounding, and perhaps my reaction was rubbed the wrong way. I don't mean to sound arrogant, and i didn't want to be forceful, it was a concern of mine, and i wanted to address that concern. Fortunately we are privileged here on the forums, we are allowed to speak out. If you want to avoid redundancy, simply banish this particular forum, because there will always be a high volume of "pointless suggestions" afloat.

I don't believe TwCs are as arbitrary as you make them out to be. By this logic we should all be granted moderator abilities, being that each and every one of us have the capacity to edit, lock, and the likes. Exceptional people are given this status, while prominent wrong-doers are given TwCs. I don't think its that simple, to associate all of us on one mutual level.

I think this charade can be put to rest. I made the suggestion, people have spoken, theres nothing else to say.

If the TWC rank is just to ensure that you practice safe trading each time you perform a trade, then what's the big deal about issuing it more often than not? Sure, people may think it's degrading to have that rank, but if you have evidence against you (be it enough or not), you should be issued the rank. If you practice safe trading a good amount of times and have no issues, then the rank gets removed. It's merely a trade precaution, and if there is any sort of somewhat hefty evidence toward you in a scam report, I don't see any issue with applying the rank.

Especially if the targeted member has a history of accusations and links to scamming, none of which falling through. It's all so predictable, seeing these incohesive scam reports, the culprit walking away, only to be banned three victims later.

It all depends on the victims too.
It's a safe practice to check out every person they are trading with before the final trade occurs. If they fail to do so, that means they deserve to be scammed.

More deserving than those that take precautionary measures, i guess.

EDIT: So, remember that guy, The Carter IV, the guy that inspired me to make this thread in the first place? Yeah, well, he scammed, again, so, yep.

TwCs are given out when someone has enough evidence provided against them to be TwCed. We can't help it if new members don't read the stickies and don't gather evidence so that they can prove they are needing banned, but when someone finally does then they are banned. We have MMs and OMMs for a reason, they aren't there to look pretty. We use them to moderate trades so that either party doesn't get scammed. Like I said, we have so many things in place to prevent scamming and if a traded doesn't utilize them it is only their fault.

TwCs are also given out when a person is recovering from a hacked account, so they just in case the staff did make a mistake and unbanned the account into the wrong hands they are less likely to get trades. If a member gets a TwC and is truly the real deal then it is easy to remove the TwC after a few trades.

Guess we'll just have to make martyrs out of the ignorant then. The Carter IV is banned, another victim later, that could've been avoided, but oh well.

OP sounds like a vader that's butthurt over a past experience.

Infracted.

What do you mean sounds? This is a forum you can't hear the posts. :P

And you seem like a poorly educated Internet troll.
