Trade limits on f2p -> p2p

The one re-enactment that has been done so far was done the wrong way (gold was dropped by p2p account and picked up by f2p account) I believe it is being redone.

I've reviewed Jefe's video again.

11:36:02 - 4:24 clock closed 

Times starting with 11 are the system clock in the video. The other times are video playtimes.

According to the clock opening and being closed the video is 126% realtime. That means for each 1.26s of realtime there passes 1 second of video time.

This means the trade window was open for 72 seconds realtime, 57 seconds video time.

If the 1M gold had been dropped immediately before the trade window was opened, then it would have been visible when the trade window was closed. It was not visible. Therefore it was not dropped. The same logic applies for if it was placed on a table, etc.

On the basis of the video evidence I see no way that Jasper could have juggled the gold in such a way as to make the trade screen deceiving.

We'll get the names redacted from the video so it can be publicly viewed if people want. I've asked other staff to review it and see if they agree with this version of the facts.

This only leaves two possibilities: either the game down converted the gold to 25k (the most likely) or Jefe used a memory hack.

Until we absolute rule out the first hypothesis we won't entertain the second.

 

Testing with Shin we've verified that someone logging in to snipe a ground item can't see it until at least 60 seconds after they've logged in, even if the item was dropped 59 seconds before they logged in. In testing the newly logged in account still couldn't see the ground item 2 minutes after logging in, and the ground item ended up despawning before becoming visible.

However if someone was below on the ground floor of the shop they could have come up the ladder between video time 5:17 and 5:57 and taken the gold. We verified that someone down stairs can come up 45 seconds after drop and will see the item 15 seconds later.

In Jefe's video he does not look at the game window for 50s of realtime starting at 5:17 video time. This means a competent accomplice of Jasper's could have run up the ladder and sniped the 100M.

So we return to three open hypotheses:
- Game devalued the gold
- Jefe used a memory hack
- Jasper had the gold sniped by a waiting accomplice.

I'm going to reiterate that based on MO I still think the first hypothesis is most likely. We're awaiting someone to recreate the conditions and check.

I've considered this. But the possibility exists that the sniping was supposed to happen in broad daylight and just by chance wasn't seen. With the original scam being to pretend you didn't know the sniper

 

Still leaves two hypotheses

 

The case is rather unusual in that you provided unusual and explicit instructions to the other party, which they followed to the letter according to video evidence. According to the other party the transaction was successful, but according to you it wasn't.

I see no grounds for action on either side, the same verdict I came to initially.

I suggest in future you make video recordings of large transactions and also use best practices / industry standard practices, or if you don't then at least use a provably best practice version of whatever alternative practice you're using.
