Trade Limits in "Free Trade" System

make wildy + staking 30-40+ combat only

not allowing drop trading, if u drop or die with an item it wont appear for other people

this way people can still loot their own loot at corps etc + no drop trading

 

Thats bull. I personally enjoy low level staking.

All these level limits or quest point limits and sht will never get rid of the problem.

EDIT: I don't even agree that Jagex should be doing anything about the fraudulent credit card subscriptions. It is in no way Jagex' fault, it's more VISA/MC/AMEX...etc fault for having such shtty verification systems for online purchases. And for them to put pressure on Jagex for these subscriptions being made, is ridiculous.

They need to make some changes
1) Re-work their entire payment system. Bind accounts with physical addresses. Use telephone verification for subscriptions. Allow one card to pay for no more than two accounts....etc. There are tons of ideas, all of which will never completely stop fraudulent subscriptions, but can help slow them down.

2) Re-work the game. Create statuses for accounts: Verified and Unverified. Verified accounts will be tied with a mobile phone number, and if the account is banned, the mobile phone number is put on a blacklist for one year. For people without mobile phones, you can use physical address verification (US, Canada, UK), and other forms of verification for people who cannot use these. Unverified accounts will have some restrictions, whereas verified accounts won't.

They could have done this at the begining but NOOOO they wasted 4 years of dumb wilderness ideas that cost them a fortune...I honestly think that jagex is just plain dumb.

 

Agreed, although this solution still has its weaknesses. Jagex has been losing market share to other games, and they have come to terms with the fact that Free Trade is the only way to start regaining ground. They are essentially admitting defeat.

 

This same idea ran through my head when I heard about the updates. I would be VERY surprised if everything trade wise went back to exactly how it was in late 2007.

 

The thought of new players having free trade is interesting. If they do have the system they have now, it will be effective.

Though, they can quite easily stake the gold away? Unless they make staking much fairer by having restrictions as well, such as the combat levels.

 

I remember when jagex said free trade would NEVER return and rwt would be the end of runescape. lolz

 

Haha yeah, they were all high and mighty about how they knew they were going to lose money but were going to do it anyway for the good of the game.

...and then they lost 90% of their players. I guess they just assumed that new players would replace the old ones who quit, but failed to realise any good mmo needs to have an "end point" other than maxing all your levels.
Pking was that end point, a huge amount of people geared their training and money making towards a final goal of having fun pking and when it was removed there was nothing that fun to look forward to. BH was a shitty minigame and all the other things they implemented to replace the old wilderness just failed miserably.

I'm just really glad they're trying to save their spiralling game instead of selling it and giving up

That won't stop them from banning you. This happened to a few people I knew back in the day, and all their appeals failed. Their mains which they spent years on were perm banned. One guy for trading a white phat to his friend to wear for fun.

 

I always use to lend phats to friends for years, Never gave 100's of mills away, But always use to drop trade And I've always been fine, I suppose they will be more strict now though.

 

people can make tons of new accs using diff emails. and let them pass the 6 month limit. its not that hard tbh.

 

They wouldn't put a level restriction on free trade.
It may seem like a good idea, and probably is, but thinking that jagex will implement that IMO is very narrow minded.

Also, from what i have heard, they already stated that all dropped items will appear.
so that would defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?

I think the "catch" per say, would be something a bit more intricate, IMO it wont be something you will see blatantly, rather something more hidden in the detection system. Like depending on what your doing, such as lvl 3 accounts picking flax or any number of things raising flags.
possibly accounts that have traded unequaly to many poeple will bring up flags?

I do strongly believe that there detection methods will be refined, in all aspects.
To what degree, im not sure of, but if they are bringing this back they must have planned something.

Personally, I think they will focus on cutting bots more than rwt.

 

I don't know what it will be but I doubt that they will bring everything back to the way that it was in 2007. I'm sure they will surprise us all when the update comes out with a ton of other updates to everything else that has been changed/moved. I think that they should base Free Trade off of your total level even though that won't be 'Free Trade'. I am fearing RWT bans already. I fear that I will get banned for just giving or receiving stuff or giving stuff to friends. I will be holding off and watching what happens for a week at the very least.

 

I think you guys are missing the reason fagex is even doing this update in the first place.

They won't put any restrictions on free trade or dropped items. The game is bringing in shit money compared to the old days and they want REVENUE...I will honestly be surprised if there are any restrictions regarding the update of free trade and the old wild returning.
