The Quran and science

However, the Quran supposedly forbids people to eat pork because pigs don't have a neck, and cannot be bled out effectively (an incorrect statement).

In what way is that not true?

Pigs do not swet do they? So the swet probably ends up in the meet :]

In what way is that not true?

My grandfather grew up on a farm. One Christmas, I stayed there for around a week, and witnessed the slaughtering of a pig. Apparently, you can't just kill it quickly, it has to bleed out. So, my grandfather took a nice big curved knive, and slit where its neck would be, right where the jugular is. The blood was saved for black pudding, and the bloodless meat was cut from the pig, and cooked appropriately.

My point? Regardless of whether uric acid is bad for you in such minutely higher quantities as you have described, pork does not contain any more than any other form of meat does.

If the sweat ends up in their flesh, that means they DO sweat.

In actuality, they do not sweat at all, which means that they will overheat. That has no impact on the quality of their meat.

When halal slaughtering by the neck the blood should be "exploding" out from the neck and the whole head cut of at once.

Do pigs have worms in them?

This is very intersting. Pretty much what they are trying to explain here is that the Quran has things listed in it that could not possibly be proven at the time it was written. Some may say it is lucky guessing but i think there is room for a propability that there is some fact within this holy book.

Do pigs have worms in them?

It happens the exact same way as when you cut a chicken or a cow's throat.

Do they, in general? I highly doubt it. Are there some that do? I wouldn't be surprised.

Also consider the habitats of the animals. We are ofcourse thinking a millenia ago when technology was limited...

Consider the pigs environment, and that of a goat or cow...

Hmm good link. It does support a lot, I knew this one that said something like this:
'When man goes higher to the sky (or heavens, not sure), his chest feels as if it is compressed'
Something like that... anyway it means there will be less oxygen so you'll feel your chest tightening and harder to breathe = correct.

Hmm I heard that another reason why pork is haraam is because the pig is a dirty animal, and like eats almost anything you feed it. :P

Also, if it has no neck, I guess you can't kill it easily because I think the halaal way to kill an animal is to cut some of its neck (well, the tubes that carry air) so its blood is still flowing. When it dies, it won't have 'clotted' or 'bloated' blood as the blood was still flowing.
So you can't behead an animal I think

Very Intresteding Topic,I as A Muslim didnt Know Much Of this.

Actually shredderbeam, sorry to crash your party but Muslims do not eat pork simply because they are dirty. They roll around in the mud all day, eat a mixture of food and mud, and are quite unhealthy. To sum it up, they're unclean.

Here is proof of how the pig's uncleanliness' nature and the pig itself can harm the human: http://www.themodernreligion.com/misc/hh/pork.html

"Bad effects of pork consumption

Pig's bodies contain many toxins, worms and latent diseases. Although some of these infestations are harbored in other animals, modern veterinarians say that pigs are far more predisposed to these illnesses than other animals. This could be because pigs like to scavenge and will eat any kind of food, including dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta (including their own), garbage, and other pigs.

Influenza (flu) is one of the most famous illnesses which pigs share with humans. This illness is harbored in the lungs of pigs during the summer months and tends to affect pigs and humans in the cooler months. Sausage contains bits of pigs' lungs, so those who eat pork sausage tend to suffer more during epidemics of influenza. Pig meat contains excessive quantities of histamine and imidazole compounds, which can lead to itching and inflammation; growth hormone, which promotes inflammation and growth; sulphur-containing mesenchymal mucus, which leads to swelling and deposits of mucus in tendons and cartilage, resulting in arthritis, rheumatism, etc.

Sulfur helps cause firm human tendons and ligaments to be replaced by the pig's soft mesenchymal tissues, and degeneration of human cartilage. Eating pork can also lead to gallstones and obesity, probably due to its high cholesterol and saturated fat content. The pig is the main carrier of the taenia solium worm, which is found it its flesh. These tapeworms are found in human intestines with greater frequency in nations where pigs are eaten. This type of tapeworm can pass through the intestines and affect many other organs, and is incurable once it reaches beyond a certain stage. One in six people in the US and Canada has trichinosis from eating trichina worms which are found in pork. Many people have no symptoms to warn them of this, and when they do, they resemble symptoms of many other illnesses. These worms are not noticed during meat inspections, nor are they killed by salting or smoking. Few people cook the meat long enough to kill the trichinae. The rat (another scavenger) also harbors this disease. There are dozens of other worms, germs, diseases and bacteria which are commonly found in pigs, many of which are specific to the pig, or found in greater frequency in pigs.

Pigs are biologically similar to humans, and their meat is said to taste similar to human flesh. Pigs have been used for dissection in biology labs due to the similarity between their organs and human organs. People with insulin-dependent diabetes usually inject themselves with pig insulin. "

An animal's diet, as long as it includes all necessary nutrients, will usually not affect it's flesh a large amount.

First, worms and diseases are eliminated by proper cooking.

Second, what specific toxins are in pork that are not within other meats?

Those who eat pork sausage tend to suffer more? That's funny, since most people cook their sausage (which hardly ever contains lung, might I add), which would destroy the influenza viruses.

Another thing: Pig meat does not go straight to the bloodstream. It goes to the stomach, where it is digested, and its nutrients are passed throughout the body. Those things which are toxic are removed from the bloodstream by the kidneys, or are passed out as stool.

Most people tend to avoid eating sulfur. Also, are the pigs mesenchymal tissues actually eaten? No. Mesenchymal tissues = brain stem cells. Do most people eat of the pigs brain stem? I think not. Do the writers of this article even know what they are talking about?

Even if you were to eat a pigs brain stem, it would be digested! Why would it physically replace your ligaments? It's not even the same tissue type!

Yes, there is much cholesterol in pigs meat. It is therefore unhealthy for you to eat large quantities over long periods of time, as it is for many different types of foods.

And about the worms, again, cooking destroys them!

It tastes similar to human flesh? Human flesh, according to my readings, actually tastes slightly sweetish. Pork tastes nothing like this.

Yes, their organs are so similar to humans organs that their organs are often transplanted into humans. It is also true that pig insulin will suffice for humans. I fail to see how this makes them unclean.

Whats up with it ?
At that time the bibel had written that the earth was flat.
Actually, the Bible doesn't state ANYWHERE that the earth is flat. It makes references to the 'ends of the earth' and the 'corners of the earth', but they were just common expressions back then (as they are now).

Only the writer of the new testament would know what that means, and if we are going to translate it, the only meaning it would have would be that the earth is flat, at least that is the most clear meaning of it.

Krypton6, the ONLY Biblical reference to a flat Earth is a brief passage that refers to the four corners of the Earth, as x9 said.

Lawrence
Potamus
Sometinhg tangible is not what he needs to believe in god, somethign tangible is his preference, he need tangible morals leading from scientifics, hence his constant refering to research.

Not really. As x9 said, it's a common expression, and it was in those days, too.

As I said, only the writers/editers of the bible would know in exactly what way we are suposed to understand it.

Word by word it means that earth is flat! Not a expression!
