Arbiter said:Here at RSBuddy premier botting is our top priority. However, I am finally satisfied with where we stand in that respect. We are undeniably the best programmed RuneScape cheating bot to date with continued development to ensure we keep improving at the pace we have been. This gives me the freedom to work on other projects that you guys have nearly ripped my head off asking for.
Yes, yes I'll make your damn marketplace, but if I do it it's going to be done right! No thirty second vBulletin forums will do, because if it's not the best it's not the RSBuddy way. Here are some comments I have previously made about my ideas for the market:
Arbiter said:I am reconsidering the feasibility of a VIP+ market. I think that would scale it down to a manageable size. The reason it has taken so long to implement is because at RSBuddy premier botting is our first concern. Now that we've established we're the best in that area it's time to move on. Only recently have I put serious thought into the market. I expect this planning phase to manifest in a structured and safe marketplace. I cannot offer an ETA at the moment for fear of missing it. Wouldn't want to disappoint you folks while trying to perfect the system.
Arbiter said:You must keep in mind that there are some legal technicalities that we have to abide by when facilitating a marketplace on a site. To answer your question the market will be completely separate from the forum, but attached by forum account, similar to the script repository. You can expect an eBay-esque system by the time it is complete. I just returned from vacation, but before leaving I asked NoEffex to start base development on it. Now that I am back it is on the top of my list, so I can finally say that it's being worked on.
Today I have a little more to offer you, including this teaser image.

As can be seen in the image, the front-end display will be quite similar to that of eBay. The current blueprints specify a merchant heavy service. What that means is that if someone has something to sell they can make a listing. When a potential customer wishes to purchase something all they have to do is search for it (i.e. goldfarming service) and all active listings that have to do with the search query will be displayed. This also allows for flexibility and expansion, like sponsored listings that would be shown in the top, sorting by feedback rating, etc. The idea is quite similar to the script repository. You guys loved that, so why not extend it to the market?
A few words from my partner in development:
NoEffex said:The very first step in building a web application is planning.
The initial talks have produced an idea very similar to ebay in that you can add listings to the market and people can bid on them or you can simply buy-only. There will be contact information.
Rather than requiring users to provide valid MSN logs the plan is to host a modified XMPP (Jabber) server which would fetch the vBulletin usernames and passwords and use that instead of having registrations and such so that way it eliminates the need for logs and we can ensure it's all valid. It's an open protocol and a bunch of clients are Clients – The XMPP Standards Foundation (Mac users might recognize that iChat uses it as it's main protocol).
With that basic idea hashed out I need to create a backend that can be as efficient as possible because hosting is not cheap and since I know a thing or two about efficiency I can do things to help out with that.
We are not far enough into the process to provide an ETA, but rest assured that good work is being done and that one will be provided promptly.![]()
