Should multiple recognized gender identities become the norm?

I didnt say a fucking thing about men giving birth, or taking hormones ect. You emphasized "gender roles" aside from reproduction and that my friend is sexist as all fuck. I believe a man should be man and a woman but aside from reproduction and pissing standing up I dont feel either gender has the upper hand in much of anything.

It might be just me but I can't really remember any breakthrough discoveries that a woman has made or any useful inventions. Might just be because women didn't have the chance to do it or might just be because we are not equal. May it be a guy vs guy or a woman vs woman but we are not equal, please try to get it. In a world where there are butterflies and sunshine 24/7 people will be equal but in this world we aren't. About time to wrap up this pointless debate about women and men being equal as in the end of the day if you have the thinking capability you will be just fine, doesn't matter what gender or sex you are. And please don't start with some 3rd world nonsense, we live where we live and the "what if's" are just a waste of my and yours time.

I said that I can't remember any, I never said there aren't any. It's clear that when it comes to science and inventions then men trump women. I'm not totali sure why but I guess that's a discussion for another time.

Animals don't have societal roles set by the perception of the group sociologically. Many animals, primates included, have 'gender roles' that don't fit the human idea of traditional gender roles. I am all for inclusivity in society, but sometimes there are parts of society that push the boundaries just to be contrary to society. If they want to push the boundaries to be completely different then why should I be inclusive? Again, is that not directly against the idea in the first place?

Ontopic(so that this kid couldn't report me ): No, this is not becoming a norm, but we have too many people who are scared to say what they think (get labeled sexist,racist etc). This society really needs more men with cohones. Don't even need to be that intelligent. We are growing up in a society where it's becoming a sin to be a man because men are assholes by default and women are angels.

Primates have societal roles in their matriarch structure, that which is similar to humans. What are traditional gender roles? Do you mean stereotypes?

Human males are able to exert themselves physically more than females in an overwhelming amount of cases. That's not my opinion, that is biological fact. That's just the easiest example of out many that genders/sexes are not equal.

You and I both know that Gender equality is not about the physical body. Besides there are actually a fair number of women construction workers, body builders, MMA fighters (that could certainly beat most any man up) ect that beg to differ. Not saying that most men arent naturally more strong than women but one could easily make the argument that thats only after thousands of years of conditioning ect. YES, there are physical differences between and women.

Of course there are physical differences but as nod is arguing here there are cases when, in many instances, women can train their bodies to be naturally as strong as men. I think this is more of a sociological discussion as far as that goes.

 

So apparently my comment decided that it didn't want to post itself. I'll go ahead and post a shortened version of what I was trying to say.

Personally I don't particularly care about whether you identify as male, female, other, or nothing. As long as you aren't annoying about it I don't see a real moral issue. As far as the distinction between gender and sex I agree with the OP.

As a side note I think it is important to be honest about your physical state. If a girl I take home turns out to have a dick, I'd likely have a problem with it. Sexual preference, not being intolerant.

I do, however, also believe that unless you specifically change your gender later in life (trans), that you remain your birth gender.

This struck me as odd. So essentially according to your premise, gender can be opposite of your sex, but then later in life it gets revoked if you don't undergo an operation? Why? If you indentify as the opposite gender, and continue to do so without going under the knife I don't think you identify as the opposite gender any less.

If a man who chooses to identify himself as a women goes into the bathroom designated for women because he feels like a women, is it alright for those women to have to put up with these males who enter a room where these women have their private areas exposed? On the flip side if you are a male and a women enters the men's bathroom, will you be conformable with this? What about showers at the gym where everybody strips naked and there are little barriers to provide privacy. Should they be accepted there too? To anybody that supports transgenders, you would have to say yes to all of these questions. If you can't, then you don't truly accept transgenders or those that wish to be viewed as a different gender. Something to think about.
