Purpose of life?

There's no real "purpose" to life, there's no ultimate achievement. We live and die.

 

To enjoy what we enjoy doing I guess

 

At the most animalistic level, the purpose of life is to survive and breed. If you consider humans as being more than mindless creatures, the generally accepted social purpose of life is to survive, breed, and create the most 'happiness', or reduce the most 'suffering' for all people, including yourself.

 

To achieve your own happiness and to allow your breed to survive by having kids and passing your genes.

 

I'm a Muslim and my main purpose in life is to worship my God(do what he encourages and stay away from what is forbidden) which will then allow me to get into Heaven in the Hereafter.

This world is just temporary which acts like a platform to accumulate my good deeds which will then be judged on the Day of Judgement.

I don't think there's a general purpose of life. It is different for everybody. In the end I think we decide our own faith and our own goals in life, and the ultimate purpose would then be to achieve those goals.

 

To the original poster. I believe many think the way you do. We live then we die. But being a product of the society is something that we have become accustom too. More people have stopped understanding what it is like to not have a car, or a telephone to call your friends, or a computer or tv. I believe that the point of life has been manipulated because of technology. We cannot treat our minds like they are just super computers. We aren't only input output black box communicating to eachother. There is alot to learn about ourselves BEFORE we can go outside of ourselves and find pleasure.

And when I say ourselves i mean me. and when you read it, it means you.

We are all different, and there is no general purpose to life.

So thats my belief, thanks for letting me post this.

 

Enjoy yourself as much as possible, learn from the negative points, pass knowledge onto children (if you decide to have) and hope they become more successful than you did, if you did.

My idea of a successful life is to see your children growing up and becoming something you always wanted to be.

 

Couldn't you just pursue what you want to be yourself?

 

I believe that is two separate points.

 

Your purpose in life is to find a purpose...for me its as simple as that. Figure out what you're passionate about and roll with it.

If the people of the world were born with one unified purpose shit would just not get done. Architecture, technology, music, art etc. . .

 

The purpose of life is to make as much money as possible in the most efficient way possible. This is what society outlines right? This is why we go to school for 18-25 years of our lives right? This is why society pressures each and every person into directing the focus of the first 30 years of their life into getting a fitting career right? Unless of course you don't fit in with the society norm..

Well ain't that a bitch..

 

We just follow what society tells us to do (survive, education, job, family, etc).

I don't think that there is a general "purpose" in life, but we can create our own purposes and aim for certain goals, from just being successful personally to making the world a better place.

 

Gold. Everyone love gold.

We were created to mine gold so our alien overlords can eventually come back and reap the rewards.

Either that or the flying spaghetti monster dropped a meatball unto earth, and we emerged from the glorious meat pile.

As long as you can make a good living that is a great purpose.

 

I just saw Lucy and the purpose of like is to either be immortal or reproduce.
