    The Meaning of Life

So, you're saying that if you are religious, then your purpose of life is to be apart of a well-designed cult?

   .

Does the meaning of life has to necessarily revolve around religion ?

    The Meaning of Life

Thus you reveal the extent of your ignorance. Firstly, "bacteria" is a general term just as "fish" is. You have not described any specific bacteria, which leads me to believe you are arguing that all of bacteria has no purpose. This is woefully wrong. If you remove bacteria, all life would end. Bacteria is responsible for many, many, many, important things that are so insignificant that you would not realize, but when you remove them the chain is broken.

Having an objective goal is irrelevant. It does have a purpose. For example, the bacteria Lactobacillus acidopholus greatly aids in digestion and removal of harmful bacteria and viral bacteria. Thus, its purpose is to aid in digestion and removal of harmful material. Is that too difficult to comprehend?

Other bacteria aid, monumentally, in the defense of the body (immune system). Therefore bacteria does have a purpose.

    First law of thermodynamics:

Sorry, explain what thermodynamics has to do with existence.

    Few things:

    • You cannot prove there is no life on the Sun, however ridiculous it may sound.
    • The Sun does not have a related purpose to the Earth and life. The Sun is simply a star. It is not any different than any other stars. Its purpose we do not no and it doubtful we will ever know. It simply serves our purpose at the time being.
    • Have you considered that the Sun has no purpose? Stars are formed from molecular gas collapsing on itself while greatly increasing in density, with heat aiding in the formation of the star. When you think about it, a star is really just a VERY long explosion.

In closing, purpose is defined as:

And therefore everything must have purpose. Life requires purpose, and purpose requires life. Even a plastic spoon required life to have a purpose, for it did not make itself.

Wrong, that is not why they live.

The meaning of existence is to exist. The meaning of life can be interpreted by each different person.

We exist because we want to. We exist because we have no choice, we have what you call "will to live" people may commit suicide for many reasons. When they do, they don't exist, physically at least. Simple.

    The Meaning of Life

And humans are a part of the natural ecosystem, much like bacteria is to biological systems. Would ridding the world of humans disturb nature or put it back in balance? The answer to this is rhetoric as you without doubt know it.

Just because X does Z does not necessarily mean X is supposed to do Z. Cause and effect, a tree grows, does this mean the purpose of the life of a tree is to grow? The link between purpose and action is invisible, and it is funny how the invisible and the imaginary look very much alike. Every single biological object, down to every simple-celled organisms, is objectively defined as life.

If you had bothered reading the whole article, you would've gathered this:
    Proofz: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_of_thermodynamics#First_law

The Sun consists of lethal components such as sulphur, magnesium, liquid silicon, carbon, etcetera. Not to mention the immense heat that reaches 5,500 C at the surface, no varied atmosphere, immense gravity (the Sun makes up for 98% of our Solar System's total mass), you name it. In conclusion, the Sun is not hospitable to sustain life. According to Ocham's Razor, this alone makes it perfectly alright to presume that the Sun contains no life until such a ludicrous claim has a fundamental basis.

Back to the bacteria-thing, the Sun do seem to have a purpose - if there was no Sun, there would be no photosynthesis and no heat on our planet. Life would've never had a chance to evolve and thus would never exist here. But yeah, just because X does Z does not necessarily mean X is supposed to do Z; but rather Z being an alternative side-effect. Much like when you eat an apple and spit out the seeds, the seeds may grow into an apple tree even though you only ate the apple because you were hungry.

A clump of rock did not require life to have a purpose, for it was produced naturally by matter attracting one another due to gravity in a vacuum. You're using a false dichotomy, once again.

I live life and I find no point in it rather just to enjoy most of it by doing entertaining things. I also look at it to prepare for eternal life in Heaven.

On levels/terms of understanding are we talking about here? Its easy to say you understand, but everyone has a different understanding based on his/her own personal bias's and how they perceive things.

As I was skimming through the thread I saw Sythe's response on God and what he perceived it to be, which he thought was contradictory. However believing that God made us for his glory is an UNDERSTANDING, since this topic has no definite answer. The truth is what we see it to be. This means the truth is different for everybody.

So doesnt that make the truth a lie? Just consider that when you try to understand the meaning of life

    The Meaning of Life

The meaning of life isn't an opinion. It's the meaning. Like, explaining what the color red is. Well, it's an understandable shade of a color that we label red. There is an exact shade of red, that we consider it to be red. You may call something else red, but does it mean it's right? No. Does it mean it's wrong? Yes.

Also, the truth is a fact. A truth, is not a truth, if everyone on the world understood that it was a truth, even if it is a lie.

You got a lot of things backwards.

    The Meaning of Life

Truth is not subjective. Truth is not in the eyes of the beholder. People have different ideas of what they see as true, but some of them are wrong and some of them are right.

The Earth has never been flat. No amount of people believing it to be flat made it flat.

Haha I'm sorry, I should have backed up my sayings from notable sources but I see one MAJOR flaw with your reasoning (I do however applaude you for your intellectual response).

So you use the example of defining the colour red correct? Now who told you that colour was red. The colour your seeing is not red. It is what we humans have named it because we do not actually know what it really is. It is natural for us as humans to define something that we do not know and try to place a name on it to try and understand it. That is what WE consider as TRUTH. You were told this information, so you assume you were told the truth?

I could easily use this example with a new born child, raise it since birth and teach it that the colour we see grey, is infact red. It is easy to say that this child would believe me and live a happy life knowing this fact. He/she would know for a "fact" you say that the colour grey is actually red. Because he/she was told so. That is truth to them.

Do you not see my point here? What IS truth? Something we all agree on? The notion of that is preposterous. We do not know the real truth but just what we define as truth. A fact you say, who made this fact? Does he/she who made this fact the man/woman that knows the truth? Where did he/she get this knowledge from.

"All truth is simple... is that not doubly a lie?" a quote said by Fredrich Nietzsche. Who was famous for proposing the actual concept of truth. If the truth is that simple to accept, in this case being told the colour red is red. Wouldnt it just as easily be a lie?

In conclusion I really must say, it is you, who in fact is very backwards

Again I find myself wondering how one comes up with this concept of truth so easily. "Truth is in the eyes of the beholder" a quote I have seen many times when studying truth in my English seminars.

The truth is right to one person while it can be wrong to others, yet you go on to say some are right and wrong, that statement as you can see is redundant.

What do you know as right and wrong? Truth is something we humans do to make things we don't understand as understandable. So which is the truth? It's not the truth because we now have a name for it. It was not created with a name so placing it one does not make it that. It's what we "understand" it by that makes us think it the truth.

I know the concept may be hard to understand but be sure I am not speaking nonsense

Please stop trying to sound smart.

What I meant by understanding life is achieving spiritual enlightenment. To understand yourself and the universe and to be one with god.
