Post edit permissions in the donor lounge

We could:
-Give non-staff users post edit permissions in the donor lounge.
-Make a section in sandbox that only donors can see? (like USF, but with donors).

 

The premise super is that since you're dicing with donors they have a vested interest in the site (their $ donation) and therefore are more trustworthy than random people in the sand box

 

It doesn't make sense to remove edit permissions from the whole section just because theres one dicing thread. People should discuss the game and amount via PM that will solve the edit problem.

yeah, but they can meet in the DL and do the actual dicing in the SB. think "they match on tinder in the DL and go fuck in the SB"

 

Don't really see a need to edit posts in the donor lounge. It's not a market so you don't need to edit the threads or anything

 

This is what the real suggestion should be. The dice section was installed with editing disabled for this purpose.

 

Implementing that simply creates a dissuasion to dicing (extra steps necessary), so should be avoided to not potentially alienate gamblers which would reduce their traffic.

Why not create a subsection inside the Donor Lounge specifically for dicing like we have in the Sand Box with that being non-editable while the Donor Lounge reverts to being editable?

I think it's redundant to have a regular market section and then a duplicate market section for donors only. Why not just have dicing take place in the dicing forum?

 

Having a donor lounge is already redundant. Adding a dice section doesn't change that. It's redundant because it's exclusive to donors only (obviously) and I want to keep this exclusivity.

 

The arguments against having donor only markets are that new users/non donators are excluded, and there's no benefit because you can still be scammed by a donor anyway.

 

True but its nice to have some extra exlusivity and the current dicing thread is actively being used so I think adding separate section instead of a thread isn't a bad idea. In the end it solves the edit problem.

 

Definitely not a big deal, but my train of thought on it being inconvenient was everyone being forced to conform to a system that revolves around 1 thread in which impacts those who aren't participating in that particular thread.

Think of it as walking to work and needing to burn 5 extra minutes to get around a roadblock that won't be fixed because it would cost the town extra money they can't afford to spend to do so. Sure 5 minutes isn't a big deal by any means and the town not having to spend extra money for a particular road that is rarely used is a plus, but it's still an inconvenience nonetheless for those who need to cross that path.

This is hardly a big deal - the donor lounge is treated like the spam forum and people very rarely put thought into their posts. However a section within the donor lounge for dicing appears to be appropriate since donors want to dice against each other in that area. I'm pretty sure they can add edit permissions inside the donor lounge, and disable edit permissions in the specific subforum, so it shouldn't be a problem. This would also reduce the need for the main donor dicing thread.

I'll post in the admin request thread asking for someone to look at it and make a decision, but they might want to wait until after the Xenforo update.

 

Can see why people would want it, can also see why people see it's unnecessary, i'm on the fence about this one.

 

This has been solved with the addition of the donor dicing section.
