It's extremely annoying that I can't edit my posts in the donor lounge. I remember that the ability to edit posts there was removed several years ago when dicing was introduced. However editing a post does not change the dice roll. I do not see any reason to keep it this way.

Please give non-staff users post edit permissions in the donor lounge.

    Edit:

I'm fine with editing being re-introduced into the donor lounge on the basis that if you edit your roll post you forfeit

I do want to point out a potential issue.

Sometimes people might change their minds on games and edit the game- Theres no way to prove what game it was suppose to be if they edit it after someone rolled.

I assume you intended this aswell as ur rolling post correct?

I could see this part a potential issue though just because some people might legitimately need to edit, while others may abuse it for scamming purposes.

Both. On Xen it will also display a clear warning that the post has been edited.

Isn't the purpose of the total edit block an anti-scam measure? It makes the evidence of bets being placed on the thread permanent. If I already lost a $50 duel, why would I care that I forfeit by editing and making it a $5 duel?

this is the concern I pointed out in the above to Jack, I'm more worried about the game and amounts being edited then the actual dice rolls.

When I say forfeit I don't mean back out I mean forfeit as in concede and you must pay out for that roll or face a ban for owing $

How about re-introducing editing with the pretense that anyone who starts a gambling thread where editing your main post in order to try to get out of a bet would earn you a removal of your donator rank? There is no reason for someone to get to keep this if they're trying to scam people while gambling.

If you implement it like this, no one will even bother to scam since they would lose their rank?

It's stupid that we have to conform to rules of a single thread, even if you don't participate in it. It's too much of an inconvenience.

I don't think it's really a big deal either way. Stopping people from editing their posts seems to have reduced the number of reports mods have to deal with though.

If it wasn't a big deal for me I wouldn't have made this thread. You're a global you don't know what it's like to have no edit permissions :p

    I know what forfeiting means.

It doesn't matter if you forfeit by editing if you already lost. I could bet $100, lose, and change it to a $1 loss. Since Sythe doesn't want to use the edit history option, editing has to be disabled in any credible dicing system.

A solution to that would be a simple PM stating the amount/game.

id support this. dicing should be done in the following format:

    who you're dicing
    for how much
type of game (highest wins, 50x2, etc.)
    [roll here]

and any edited posts = automatic losses.

also, can you guys edit posts in the sandbox? if not i think we should give you that too because there's a separate dicing forum now

I need to stress again: an automatic loss DOES NOT MATTER because the bet AMOUNT can be edited after the fact.

You cannot have a credible gambling system unless all information surrounding the bet are completely unalterable.

Forcing people to use a template still doesn't offer full protection for the gambling parties.

I'd rather not let people have edit permissions in the dicing section due to the reason mentioned above by Xiero

good point, i was for some reason thinking that post people had to post to play. in which case i retract my earlier statement.

also i've never understood why DL dicing happens in the DL and not in the sand box. find people on the thread in DL, do your bets in dicing forum, problem solved..
