If they could get a solid defenseman and a depth defenseman + a good goalie (bishop????) they'd be sitting pretty for next year.

 

Alright so WCSF starts today, round predictions?

I'm thinking Oilers-Ducks go to 7 just because of how tight it's matched + apparently Anaheim might get back a bunch of their injured dmen.

Predators look really fucking good and everyone's saying there's no way Jake Allen can keep up his ridiculous sv% so Preds in 6

Caps-Pens is another series I can see going to 7. Gonna go caps in 7 but wouldn't be surprised either way

And Senators won't make it past the Rangers as a one-man show imo. So Rangers in 5 or 6

 

Agreed on all fronts but I'm going to take the Blues in 6 instead of the Preds.

 

I don't think the oilers can handle the ducks. The oilers struggled against a team that can't score for the life of them while the ducks handled the flames with ease pretty much. I'm going with the ducks in 6 to 7

The blues did well against a very solid Minnesota team, albeit Minnesota tanking at the wrong time. Allen's goaltending is superb, so expect that to regress to the average. Similarly, I see the offense of the blues as better than the preds and the defense as about equal. The preds allowed 3 goals in 4 games against the hawks, so expect the goaltending to also regress to the average. I don't see their first line dominating against a more potent and physical defense, so I'm going blues in 5 to 6.

Caps and penguins, this will be fun. The penguins, while destroyed on defense and depleted a bit on depth scoring ran over the blue jackets like it was a joke. They got a couple people back and are known to perform better against the caps in the playoffs, where the caps are known to choke. The caps struggled against the maple leafs. Seeing how both teams performed in the first round, I don't see the caps being able to handle an even more potent offense and an actual defense. The caps series looked like regular season games, whereas the penguins looked like a true playoff team. Penguins in 5 to 6

Senators and rangers I don't care, but rangers in 6

They won tonight but they were outplayed for 55/60 minutes. If this keeps up and the Caps tighten a few loose ends on D i think they'll take it. But then again on the other hand the Pens probably won't be seen playing this badly this series again, just as the Leafs series was a wake-up call for the Caps (we wouldn't have a chance of beating the Caps team that showed up tonight), perhaps this was a wake up call for the Pens.


Also I take back what I said about Karlsson...maybe they can with the series off a 1-man show...

Yeah it's insane. Very surprised, I'm not sure what is going on but I still don't think they can win the series.

 

If Ducks are as mentally weak in 2017 as they have been in the past with this core, this could be over soon. They have a massive mountain to climb now.

They've also won a cup, albeit years and years ago. They have more experience and are going to be much harder of a team to close out. I can definitely say I'm much less confident, but I still think the ducks can take home a series win. They're just too good of a team not to.

 

That team was stacked to hell though. And Gibson does not seem like a championship goalie to me, which is a problem. Corey Perry is a shell of what he used to be. Kesler always been a big talker but usually a small performer in playoffs.

I'd be shocked if the Ducks pull this back now. Hard to not tilt when you lose games you should win. Killed the Blackhawks. Think it's going to kill the Ducks. Just in the past the teams they have trouble beating are speedy teams.
