and clinched damn, its gonna feel unreal seeing the oil in the playoffs...i felt the same way in 2013 and this is probably even better cause they're looking real good instead of the leafs that year who sorta squeaked in

Philly winning is nice, but ottawa does get the extra shootout point and boston/mtl/toronto all won so basically nothing changed here lol

 

yeah man. was chillin at a buddy's apartment who lives one block from Rogers place after the game. People were hootin and hollering and cheering and cars were driving up and down the road honking and fist pumping out the window. was glorious

 

NHL will not participate in 2018 Olympics

I mean, i can see why the owners would not want the Olympics, they absorb all the risk of their stars going to the games with the possibilities of getting injured (remember Tavares getting injured in the '14 winter olympics?) while the IOC reaps all the benefits and cash, but still sucks hard for the fans. Id say the players too bu come on, theyre all getting paid millions of dollars per year to play a fucking game, they can suck it up

 

From what I can gather what happened was basically the IOC was used to fronting the cost for the insurance, travel etc. for all the players travelling to the Olympics till this year. And then they were like "nah NHL you guys gotta cover it this year" and obviously the NHL isn't down with that so they didn't want to either. Then the IIHF offered to pay for everything, but because the NHL wants to stick it to the IOC they declined that offer on the basis of some bs like they're worried that money's coming out of assets that would otherwise be used to grow the game???

like come on if you really wanted to grow the game you'd send the best hockey players on earth to fucking ASIA where hockey has huge potential for growth especially with that Chinese team in the KHL this year. Hell the first hockey game I ever watched was the '02 gold medal game and that's what got me into it, i'm super pissed off rn

Wtf is going on these playoffs? Blackhawks choking? Capitals cho..well that's no surprise.

 

I'd love to give the Leafs credit here but for some reason when every year the Caps are good they run into a goalie who seems like he's on a 'hot streak'....at this point its as much of the Caps playing down as it is the Leafs really bringing it.

Yeah blackhawks i have no clue..not even like Rinne is standing on his head, 59 shots over 2 games is a lot but not exceptional. Watched a bit of game 1 and the Hawks defense looked solid too so I have no clue what's going on (although I didn't watch game 2 of that series at all so it may have been different considering Crawford posted an .830 sv% that game lol)

 

I'll give the Leafs full credit actually, the Capitals are lucky they're not in the same hole as the Blackhawks.

Game 2 of the Hawks game was just bad netminding by Crawford, which is rare. I think he's tilted his offense is doing absolutely nothing. The Blackhawks seem to struggle with these defensive minded teams. They've lost a lot of secondary scoring and energy guys over the years. Byfuglien, Bickell, Saadfather, Shaw, Sharp, etc were all big time energy guys that could get you ugly goals in ugly games. Panarin + Anisimov + Panik have never proven to be able to do that in playoff games.
