This. There are so many more affective and admirable ways to clean up sythe.org than this. This was useless.

People need to stop being mad for a second and understand the staff, save for the two that pulled the sting and Sythe, had no clue this was going on.

Nope, and neither would I. However, I'm saying in a situation where one might be able to obtain large amounts of money with no consequence at the expense of a fellow human being, I would think that a good majority of humanity would definitely succumb to this - it is merely a question of 'how much?'. You might regard yourself as a noble human who would be unwilling to do something at the expense of others - and perhaps you are. However, the majority of mankind is not like this. Humans are selfish and ultimately they care about themselves more than random people whom they do not know.

If anyone wants to actually say something productive and not just bash the staff for this, come to the IRC, channel #talk and we can have a civilized discussion. If you can't do that, don't bother coming.

Seeing as there were more people who posted on the thread offering to help n4n0 than to steal from him, I'd have to say that I disagree, based on my own observations.

Sad thing is, staff tend to go against the preassumption that these people are really scammers until after they've scammed.

Nobody buys 250M for Paypal OR Liberty Reserve (example thread from the other day, bet he's still unbanned too).

I'm a neutral bystander to all of this. Do not judge me, I'm speaking for most people.

VIOU is correct with his response to this situation. This was out of line. But, the effort put into this is appreciated.

I've read every single page of every thread about all of this. Nothing out of this was accomplished besides getting a few dishonest people banned. Hurray, a few more users have been banned. Boo for users like me who have other thoughts about our staff.

The two major point's VIOU made: About the only memorable name which is Time To Buy, and Fire Z's GP LOTTERY THREAD. Both of these actions just weeded out random users. Nothing serious had occurred out of this. No "Big Names" were threaded out.

In my opinion, if a scam were to happen, it would be for big payouts. Not a petty ones. No smart scammer would risk getting banned for trying to scam a moderater. It's pointless to try. I do understand that people made billion dollar accusations towards this, it's just typical scammers. Like you guys say, obvious scammer is obvious.

Yes, Time To Buy is banned. It's the only big name out of any there. He only said 300M (Amount he wanted to scam). It's just barely more then his donation amount. He even noted that it was false. (IDK what is his current situation ATM, But idc.) If he actually is telling the truth, This would be the biggest fail. So if he is innocent, please tell me what big time guy was banned? How has the community been saved?

@Staff, I do not agree with this one bit. You created false advertisement towards the users on sythe. Blowing up the idea that a very trusted users MSN is hacked doesn't create a good sense of safety here on sythe. In the end it won't make users like to use sythe, or prefer it over other websites because it is more "safe". The only outcome out of this is that hacking occurs here on sythe.

What if this whole operation was actually true, and people did get scammed? The staff would blow it off as a way to catch scammers. Essentially, they would just ban whoever had evidence to cover up for themselves. If 10Bil was scammed, lets say thats $5k, split that between 5 staff members and they all made $1k each. I love our staff and don't see our staff ever doing this. If it did happen, how would we ever know?

    @Govind, you said...
Entrapment is illegal according to US laws, why should you do it on sythe?

These are the things I think about now. Personally, I dont plan to trade on sythe because of this. This whole operation was just abuse of power. It's the slow start of powerbot.

Remember like the court and the legal system in real life, we too at sythe follow this: We rather have guilty people free than innocent people punished. (well at least I follow this).

I didn't say you should ban every one of them, but as video made a suggestion for having an account selling requirement, would help prevent scams on sythe, and even having the common sense to close threads of people buying large amounts of gold for high prices and tell them to look at the gold selling section where someone will happily sell them gold (WAY less scammers in the selling section then the buying section).

These are just a couple ideas, better then leaving it to be.

Edit: I'm not stupid enough to think you should blindly ban every user, but frequent IP checks and the such to ban them as 'vaders before they scam.

Ah, sorry, shouldn't have used the word entrapment then.

Whatever the case, what took place here weeded out potential scammers.

Still, a big part of this community is outraged/disturbed at this. There are two valid points. You need to look as both aspects of them.

I think if you want to weed out scammers, you should look where most of the scamming takes place. I'm sure if you ran IP checks on the users buying gold for .60+/m and most newcomers who post selling accounts, you'll find that a lot of them were previously banned for scamming and are currently evading.

A few people claiming to be scammed by n4n0 doesn't mean that they were going to scam on sythe.

I agree with both of you. Doing this only shows how maturity isn't there yet.
Staff is supposed to be here to help and support the members, not deliberately set up a trap, as R2Pleasent stated.

Only thing you'll gain with this is that some users will stop trusting staff for lack of maturity.

Would you of rather the users in that list were banned now or scammed someone and then were banned. Forget what is out of line and give more thoughts to users of the community.

My input: I offered any type of assistance to N4n0 that i could provide him with.

The whole story to me seemed fishy after I did my research about being able to obtain any hush or msn users

So my thoughts was that n4n0 was faking the hacker situation to receiving profits himself. Which i find sad to have assumed that, but nothing added up

I agree with Viou and also the staff, weeded out POTENTIAL scammers, who wouldn't have a chance in hell with no experience and a couple new posts! I mean come on guys?!

Also @ Arcus - With making the people buy from trusted, longlived members whos are "highly trusted" would only cause a monopoly in the gold market trade

The top sellers would bump up prices, and with no competition, sythe users would be submitted to paying their prices.
