Internet Grammar

I believe it should be stopped but it depends where you want to draw the line. I dont like people "missin lettrz cuz itz kl" but I'm not overly-fussed about someone missing a fullstop/apostrophe.

Eh, it depends really. If they spell every word wrong and can't type for shit, then it's a problem.

type however you want to type online no one is going to do anything to you online if you dont use correct grammar

 

if you can still understand what people are saying then why does it bother you? if ur a nazi then i can understand but if not then u may have OCD or something. btw, i usually dont use proper grammar on the internet because i just dont think its a big deal at all but if i need to write something that involves using proper grammar then i can do it easily. if bad grammar used by others on the internet deteriorates someones spelling as i see someone stated on the first page of this thread, it just proves that person is spending too much time on the internet.
however, if you are talking about the people who purposely use bad grammar because it makes them feel they are cool then i agree with what your saying but if your also talking about people who just dont use proper grammar on the internet because they dont think its a big deal then i believe that you are very close minded.

Capitalization and some spelling mistakes are okay but when people type their sentences with such horrible grammar and think that people can understand them, it gets really annoying. I type most of my words out fully and try to use proper grammar. I mainly only use shortcut words like "plz"or "ty." However, people can talk however they want online and I'm not going to ask them not to. Just make your sentences understandable ^_^ .

 

I will say PLZ because it is shorter than PLEASE. I will also say NO because it is shorter than YES.

 

yah this effects alot. While giving my english paper i always right "u" instead of you and also i sometimes write "k" as for ok.

 

It should be stopped because kids are getting errors like the words there, they're, and their. Other words like that that have similarities are always used incorrectly by kids in my school and in my classes, I'm not sure if it's because of 1337 Talk, but I'm pretty sure 1337 talk affects most kids in what they write in school. I don't use it, but I like it because it looks funny sometimes.

 

Improper grammar/spelling should be used only in jest, and nothing more. If you're in a super fast hurry, such as jumping in midair in a game while turning and firing at someone who is trying to take you down and would like to say something in that split second of time, then I have no issues with someone typing horribly or using major shortcuts.

But if you do it on FORUMS or in chat? Come on. You've got all day to sit there and type up a reply, and it honestly takes less time to type properly than it does to type a bunch of gibberish. Why? Because your mind knows grammar better than it doesn't, since that's what all you kids have been studying for years and years in school. So it's a lot easier to let your mind flow, your fingers following, and type things out properly. For me to type nonsense, I actually have to focus on the task.

So if your mind is a bunch of nonsense and it feels "NATURAL" for you '2 typ lik dis', then you need to ask your teacher about Resource classes.

My final thought is no, it isn't acceptable and should be stopped unless done in an acceptable situation.

My opinion doesn't really matter but I think it's good for the Sythe community to have good grammer and it will improve your grammer because if you keep on writing with bad grammer I guarantee that your grammer will rise down slowly.

Me, myself i only just turned 13 years old and I would so overall that my grammer is good. I used to back in the day write with slang and I realised that my grammer was not improving and since i've not used slang it has

 

nou i lyke to oose bad gramurs it mayckes me f33l gud.

 

there are times when it is acceptable...

like in txt messages, (not the cellphones with keypads) it takes awhile to type with those.

but on the internet, i think people should be able to spell stuff properly unless they don't know how to spell certain words.

typos are acceptable
but when you get a sentence like "hi u guys, how r u doin 2nite?"
that's just stupid and you should be banned from the internet
