    Internet Grammar

It's alright to use bad spelling and grammar on the internet. It should be written so people can understand it. This is the internet, nothing official. You are judged by your writing in any case if you write more accurately you will treated differently if you do not so you one should want to spell and use grammar correctly.

When I fist joined sythe my spelling and grammar were terrible, but after seeing how much different people treat you if you type accurately I started to care more and my writing improved. I'm definitely not perfect but I continue to become a better writer.

Same thing happened to me as wtp.I started playing runescape where everyone abreaviates, as speed is important there when PKing, you don't wanna type out

"everyone stand on me and get Ice barrage and your special bar ready and make sure protect item prayer is on",
You say "evry1 dd me and IB and spec and protect on atm"

But then I went on privy servers, and I realized that in their forums, people who talked like that were losing respect, and I needed to stop.

I do feel that bad grammar that is used on the internet can certainly influence other areas of conversation. However, it is up to the person who chooses to write/speak like this and make themselves look stupid. Although I can understand why some people choose to talk like this, for ease of communication which is sometimes helpful.

I guess it can be helpful. Only if used sparingly though.

I disagree, people speak how they wish to speak. Noone can make them do any different. Sure, it would make things easier for readers etc. But in the end it's up to them. If they want to use wrong grammar, then they have the right to do so.

However, I admit that when people overuse bad grammar it annoys me, like when people say stuff like "huh, wdf, no u didnt, i so pwnz u coz im rite n u rnt, so eat tht n gtfo noob". People like that are so idiotic. Overuse of wrong grammar is really annoying, nothing can be done about that though, people can do as they please.

I just lately realized that it shouldn't be based on grammar really.. I try to type perfectly, but it started out doing it for practice when I needed to write papers, now its just normal for me. But others could have problems, one of my friends sucks really bad at typing, he types with both his index fingers. Because he doesn't like talking to people over the internet, I guess he never practiced. But hes so intelligent in real life. Or my best friend, he doesn't like typing properly because.. Lol he said, "If I type like shit no ones going to expect me to spell properly" Because he really has problems spelling some of the easiest words >.<

As I said. Most don't look at actually word spelling, but they look at effort. It shows decency to me at least, when you take the extra 20 seconds out of your life to capitalize the I and to add the one in "every1".

My first language is Farsi, because I am born in Afghanistan.
I live in the Netherlands. I really have to confess that my dutch language skills are probably better.

I agree, it's extremely hard to read something when they type retarded. It only takes a few more seconds to add just two-three more letters.

I'm more than ok with bad grammar especially if the one who's posting isn't so familiar with the English language.

It is very arguable that someone who "talkes liek thsi!11!11!" would be doing more work than someone who "talks like this".

Also, does my wanting to type incorrectly make me unintelligent? I don't think so. >.<

A few things that piss me off:
    - Confusing the terms "you're" and "your"
    - Confusing "their", "they're", and "there"
    - Spelling the word "grammar" as "grammer"
    - Using commas where semicolons would be correct
    - Typing "O" instead of "Oh", even on chat protocols like MSN and IRC

There are more but I don't remember them all right now.

People claim that the mistakes they make are caused by simply neglecting the rules out of convenience; that doesn't make sense as in the above examples there is no clear indication that the person making the mistake is trying to shorten the word or the time it takes to type it.

I do not like internet speaking, but I do make a lot of mistakes when I type English. I used to use internet speaking, but when I started typing papers for school I would type internet talk in them because I got used to it, but I stopped because of that. I will use thinks like jk, idk, or k if I don't feel like typing or I'm want to get the message across quicker.

I try to use correct grammar when online and it doesn't really bother me when people make minor mistakes with spelling etc. Although it does tend to make me judge people as unintelligent when they do so.
