I do not understand this

What blade's suggesting isn't really feasible due to the nature of this site. Each section isn't as active as the next, it's not something like Reddit where you can mod a particular subreddit. There are other factors relevant to this, but irrelevant at current.

However, one thing I think that every staff member should be doing, is - to make an active effort in encouraging discussion throughout various subsections/being active past modlogs. This can simply be making a discussion topic and simply driving it forwards.

 

That used to be a thing. The new mod logs system really changed the nature of the staff team and everyone refuses to believe that or something. I've advocated for changes since we switched to it and they've never been done.

Single section mods are more focused and if they enjoy the section they mod it's more likely they will put effort into the section. For super tiny sections there might not be a ton to do but whatever.

It does have an issue with banning permissions but I think that is solvable. Also there are numerous staff that came from the two lists of potentials in that thread.

Actually; the user was given an ultimatum. The period after he increased his activity and score. As this seemed to be an improvement, we let it pan out for another 2 week period and it was again, less.

Trust me when I say I keep a very close eye on people and give feedback when appropriate based on modscore AND presence. Your issue will be solved, as I promised it would be (to staff), when I post this terms modscores and make the changes I need to.

Currently I've requested modscore for posts on pardons in hopes to improve things there. But it's still to be done by those asked.

 

For a month though? I think that's a bit excessive. It's not like he's a Cas_M or Entrr, otherwise I would understand.

Demoting someone with zero forewarning isn't nice to do, even if their activity is bad.

Mistakes are bound to be made when someone is doing most of the paperwork(which I'm sure most of you agree he was). If others helped with the load maybe the mistakes could have been less severe. The mistakes made I still don't think were enough to warrant a demotion, but hey I know nothing, I've only been a member of this site for 10 years.

 

The part that bothers me is nobody really knows what needs done, or understands how much we do that isn't visible. As always, only failures have feedback threads created. There isn't often a thread about "Great job blade, you spent hours and found that vader's gaia online account from 8 years ago with his RL info and linked him to his HF account, which had scam history and blackhat." It's just another modscore. This is a true story btw, gottem!

For example, lets say I do 500 reports, and 5 of them were done incorrectly at my fault.

Let us, as well, consider moderator B does 50 reports, with one done incorrectly, at their fault.

To the public: "Blade is shit, he messed up 5x more reports this month than mod B."

Exactly that's the point I was trying to make with my post.

Btw other staff members I'm not calling you out on your inactivity, you all seem to be doing well, I was just trying to make a point.

 

Well, currently no staff members remain who are failing consistantly so it's okay rn.

 

Blade made some rushed decisions but then again he did so much for the site and he knew what mods were lacking so he filled all of those spots. Good job blade also that infraction on me is invalid.. -.-.-.-
