    Yesterday I reported a post in one of my threads because someone posted a bullshit offer ($30 paypal) in my thread for post count.

    I reported him for spamming because it was obvious that he posted solely for post count. I even included a few reasons why in the report:
    1. I already had a 30M 07 offer
    2. I don't accept paypal unless the member has at least 50 vouches (he has 10)

    Yet my report was somehow rejected and nothing was done about his spam. He didn't even receive a warning pm. After contacting a different mod I was able to get it handled, but it would be great if mods were more consistent. The outcome of a report should be the same no matter which mod handles it..

    That doesn't mean that you shouldn't give explainations and you damn well better give an explaination if asked, as was done here. The staff need to be accountable. If there is a standing policy that the staff do not have to explain their actions when asked, that needs to be done away with.

    Depending on well your report was rejected that could of played a part for whatever moderator handled it. For example. While I do not reject reports asking for a post to be moved to another thread it is VERY annoying having someone report a post "wrong thread" and having to go find the correct thread and then move these posts. I personally find having a vouch located in a specific buying/selling thread near pointless and while I'll still do it, insufficient reports often cause me to have a "well, I'll return to this later" mindset.

    Anyway, while this idea that the outcome should be the same no matter who handles it is a wonderful concept, in reality it is not feasible. We (moderators) are also people and our opinions will differ.

    I have turned down reports before and talked to the indiivdual whose report I turned down and still did not think it warranted anything. While these were my thoughts on the matter, I welcomed him to refer to another staff member and see if they would take another action.

    Now, this isn't to say there shouldn't be some standard among how staff handle cases (and I would argue there is); but unless we are all automated or the individual individual, there will be differentiation among our opinions and how cases/reports/etc. are handled.

    Having more consistent report handling is entirely feasible and not that hard. If most of the reports in a section were handled by a small team of sectional moderators dedicated to that section we could have much more consistent results. It would not be perfect but it would be huge step up from what we have now.

    Same here. All though the excuse of "security threats" and short explanations is usually a way to cover up laziness or give the ability to judge/vote based on personal feelings.

    Businesses often times purposefully redirect people to the wrong threads so the user can vouch. Businesses don't care about the vouch, they care about the bump.

    They don't need to give explanations he just told you. Heh.

    If its private then sure don't give an explanation like if there is sensitive information. .. but explanations can be given for a few of staff actions without there being sensitive info involved.
