From talking to SuF, and being a tad more respectful than him, he's referring to staff who maintain the rank for their market presense, vote according to the first vote on pardons, get minimum modscore at the last few days of the month, and never assist the community or help the site.

Those who attempt change and speak out are at risk to be shut down, as we've seen.

 

Sorry. That was rude and silly. I'm fairly confident in the fact that the current mod log system inherently selects for people that fit well into that system. It makes sense that most or all of the current staff fit into that system or else they would be removed. If you start using a more flexible activity tracking system (which admins really could just do manually for awhile) their might be staff who change their behavior and no longer fit the "mold" or would no longer be a "cookie cutter" member since they would feel less constrained to fit into the system. Or they would not step down or be demoted for not meeting the requirements of the current system.

I don't think it would be impossible for Govind to extend the system that is in place but I'm assuming he won't want to spend time on it unless the benefits are proven. It wouldn't take more than a few minutes to get the stats on most of the additional points that Roary posted and if it seems to work after spending some time doing it for a couple months Govind might just do it.
