How long till RS3 game dies.

It's definitely losing activity, But I don't see it dying out anytime soon, try some high level PvM'ing on it, it's great.

Clearly not, new weapons+boss etc coming shortly, many of active players daily and a huge income through TH promos/cosmetics, don't see how it's "dead".

 

Not for a while imo, weren't they doing something in china where they expected a long of new players to play or something idk

 

The expected influx of players is from the upcoming Runescape mobile app, no release date yet I think they said this year however.

 

RS started dying 10 years ago. You're playing a very slowly sinking ship.

 

Coming from someone who plays strictly RS3, it's certainly on it's way down. Back in 07-2010 you'd see tons of level 3's and new spawns in lumby all the time. Tutorial island constantly had an influx of players. Nowadays the vast majority of the games players are people who have been playing for years and don't want to let the game go. I couldn't even tell you the last time I ran into a new player. The game certainly has a few years left to its name but I don't foresee them gaining any ground.

 

What proportion of that 206872 players were actual players though? Plus, no doubt that count was taken at its peak time in the day, probably during a holiday. The right time of the day, at the right time of the year, RuneScape total players can easily reach 110K+. That's not too bad considering the fact that they're (mostly) real players, right?

It's definitely dying, so are most classic MMORPG's, but it's still got a bit of life in it.

 

yeah this is really the truth tbh over the past 10 years people are constantly saying runescape is dying and I guess it is but really slow it shall last for many more years imo

It's already 'dead' in most peoples eyes, but I doubt it'll ever truely die out as SOME people still enjoy playing it.

 

I imagine in the future Jagex might sell the whole franchise (OSRS & RS3) to some company who's half-competent at listening to the community.

Jagex won't simply scrap it, they will sell it on.

 

This smacks right in the feels lmao, games slowly dying think it’s got 5 maybe 10 years left in it at a push.

 

I honestly think RS3 has a good 10-15 years before it dies completely. Then again, I don't think it ever will "completely" die. I believe it'll continue dropping numbers every year but it won't ever get to the point of having 1-2k players on.

Hopefully RS mobile will bring some more people back, or even newer players.

 

Oldschool players like myself want rs3 to be strong if it starts losing money then the outlook is bad for osrs...

It still makes them a ton of money so somebody enjoys it. My problem with it now is that the requirements to run the game smooth and properly ales a pretty powerful computer. OSRS runs do well because it was made to run on dial up connections.

 

People have been telling the game will die for years now and yet its still there...
I dont see it dieing any time soon, they should advertise it more...i discovered rs through an ad on miniclip years ago lol

 

Yeah! I mean there’s seriously so much to do on RS3 now they should put that money towards advertising. Does anyone know the demographics for RS3 players?
