How long till RS3 game dies.

I believe that Rs3 as-well as OSRS are still going to be here for quite a while.

Simply because a majority of the player-base doesnt just quit. One might leave the game for a few months or years but the player base is "Re-occuring" - While one wave of people decide to hop off the game for a while, theres another batch deciding to log on again after a long break.

Jagex also has the tendency to evolve for the long run, as seen in Classic<RS2<RS3-OSRS.

Just getting back into rs3 for the first time since 2011. It's pretty fun actually. Only problem I have is it's a lot less multiplayer now. I see it as an extremely expansive single player game these days. Damn tho I miss stealing creation.

 

It wont die, runescape classic has a couple hundred active users, so if that can survivie this long RS3 will survive for a lot longer

 

I'd say RuneScape is far, far away from dying. Asheron's Call survived for a good couple years while half-broken and bleeding players, and we've still got the likes of Ultima Online and Everquest around. Those are old and don't get many updates, yet they're still standing. There's plenty of old MMOs surviving, too, a lot of which only a few people have probably ever heard of. Fact is, MMOs are harder to kill than you might believe, and the death is usually really slow and obvious when it does happen.

RuneScape hasn't really declined that badly. It's nowhere near the peak it used to be at, but even at period of low activity it still has several thousand of players, most of which who are members. Between memberships, bonds, and MTX, I'd guess they've got plenty of steam to go on for years to come. And that's all without even touching the success of OSRS.

I saw this and just thought i would comment.. I used to love RS3 or Normal runescape how it used to be, but ever since they messed about with the simplicity of the game they have lost alot of tghe fan base, which i was super glad to see 07 been re released now i have spent many months playing both even years playing, and it has brought me great sadness that the old school version is now becoming rs3 slowly with all the updates etc its called 2007 why not just leave it as it is? But back to the main point i honestly do not think it can die much more it has very loyal fan base now and i would not be surprised is if i saw the game in 10 years time still active..

All it would take is for runescape to bring out a VR version of the game and io honestly think it would make it have the fan base it once had.

 

i doubt it's going anywhere they pulled in the most profitable via microtransactions 40m + last year

 

I really doubt it will die for a long time. The Ironman community alone is really active.

 

Compared to OSRS RS3 is already dead, Jagex just doesn't want to admit that because they invest so much into it.

 

Its already dead in my opinion, just a bunch of "e-dating" and bank standing.

 

not really dead can see alot of players coming back just from runescape mobile so i dont see how rs3 is dead lol perhaps for the rwters its preety much dead not even worth making bills anymore imo but for the hardcore gamers not really.

 

Its just as alive as Oldscape lul

Belive it or not, rs3 is extremly popular for people who like the 'wow' alike game mechanics, not to mention people spend tons and tons of irl $ in the promotions to speed things up ( bonus exp, etc )
I would dare to say it would be likely for OSRS to die before RS3 does ( due to being infested with bots )

 

holy shit people still play rs3? You brought up the pay to win and microtransactions a lot, I think that shows that they are ready to let it die, just that they want to milk it till it dies first. I think the mobile version may give it new life and ever since VR started becoming a thing I think that one of these days Runescape will come out with a Virtual reality version so we can be in the game we've all played for so long and then everyone and their dead cat will start playing

 

Won't be long. Its going to be gone if they dont upgrade it to a normal MMORPG. The game is absolute garbage. especially compared to OSRS

Considering you can't compare RS to OSRS any longer, its more compared to much better options.

It was fun for a month while I was sick but got kind of old once I ran out of reasonable goals. You need maxed combat stats, 95 herblore, and 95 prayer before the game even starts anymore. Most of the "end game content" is grinding to 200m exp. I'm not sure how so many people do it..
