Eye for an Eye, Tooth for a Tooth.

Idk about all the exact eye for eye thing.

But, I do belive

rapists
child molesters
murders

Should not even be given the days they have sitting on death row or doing 25 years. They should be lined up and shot.

im guessing ur not a christian? anyways i dont think its our place to decied who lives and who dies.

back on topic, i dont think an eye for an eye is fair because then the whole world would be blind, at some point someone has to turn the other cheek

Who does decide who lives and who dies then? God? I'm not into fairy tales.

Wdf is wrong with you people? That whole world would be blind is the most ignorant thign I've heard. If you didn't commit the crime maybe you wouldnr be blind, eh?

The problem now is that the punishments are not harsh enough.

Really, if you want to stop viloent crimes or limit them. Make it illegal for someone NOT to own a gun. Criminal are too keen to shooting at someone that will shoot back, becuase they have small balls and need to hide behind guns.

This is what I say.
You are proven GUITY in a court of law for murder. (A fair court of law-one without people paying other people off, like so much of what we see today) If you shot the man in the leg before you raped him, than killed him, you are taken behind the court house(Right after you are proven guilty), shot in the leg, get your cock cut off, and than, after a few minutes or so, shot in the head. Your body is than dumped. You don't deserve a funeral.

I TRULY belive this is what should happen. These days, money can do ANYTHING. If you have enough money, you are virtually untouchable.

Thanks for bringing this topic up.

How old are you 12?

What does this statement have todo with anything? We're talking about criminals, ffs.

Violence is inevitable in our world, it's something that will always be, sadly. That's how we humans are programmed.

Although, you people talk about punishing someone for a crime. Giving them the death penalty for it. Now, when does it stop being a punishment, and start being revenge or just sick enjoyment for someone's twisted mind.

Taking the life of another is wrong, I don't care who you are, or why you did it, it's wrong, period. Some people are seeming to forget that and they think it's ok as long as the reason behind it seems legit, or right.

Killing someone makes you just as bad as the person who did the crime in the first place. No justice is done by it, it's simply an act of what we think will equal it, but in the end, killing another isn't the way to solve the problems in our world today.

Look around, and tell me where that's got us so far.

Seriously i think self defence is ownage .

your telling me you have a gun in your pocket another man comes up to you with a gun and you wouldnt get it out. :S think about it

Person A takes person B's Life. Person B's family are left with nothing but the knowledge that Person A is living and enjoying his life even after killing person B.
Doesn't seem right does it?

First, you seem to think I don't think they should be punished. All I said was they shouldn't be punished with death. Tell me exactly how a life sentence in jail is an enjoyable and living life for someone, because it isn't. But it does the same thing as killing them would, it prevents them from killing again.

So, by killing person A, person B's family will have the knowledge at least that person A is no longer around to live life and breathe our air. Even though it is just for the satisfaction of person B's family, it is also justified in other ways. Most predominetly, person A is incapable from killing anymore people. We know person A is the type that will kill others to get his way in life, so it is also a safety measure for the rest of us.

Like above, sentencing him to life with no parole does exactly the same thing, killing them isn't the answer. Secondly, what about the people who were killed on accident, or just someone was there at the wrong time, wrong place. There are people who have killed someone and would never do it again, so we should just kill them right? Just to make sure? No, that isn't our place. Jail is the best alternative and it works just fine.

Why waste the tax dollars on him to keep him in jail and maybe give him a second chance at life? What good does that do anyone but person A. the person that lost what he earned when he was born.

You're right, no one makes mistakes. Let's just say hey, screw you, you cost us an extra dollar in tax money to keep you in jail, let's just kill you and save ourselves the 12 dollars a year. Now that is really pathetic, and if you honestly think like that, I would recommend professional help to you.

I have no problem with keeping people that commit small offenses such as theft, vandalism, or possesion of illegal substances in jail, but murder is completely different.

No, it isn't, murder is just worse. Killing them does not justify anything, it makes us just as bad as he.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Gandhi..lol... I think that an eye for an eye only applies to non-violent scenarios e.g theft. For others, like Dorito said your not goign to get your brother back, so instead of ruinging your own life--> let the courts handle it.

To keep an inmate locked up for a year it costs (15k-20k) a year.
We could be feeding starving kids instead of killers.
Or sending kids of low income to college.

Anything other than keep a murderer alive.....

It generally costs more to execute somebody, what with costs of extra trials, etc.

Anyway, the issue of the death penalty will hardly be decided upon finances.

Also having prisons give many more people jobs... THere are gaurds, janitors and doctors needed. The governement pays more almost 8 times as much to a prison for every inmate then to schools for students... Thats a terrible fact isn't it. The average school recieves about 6000-8000 dollars per student, while a prison gets almost 50,000 per inmate...

That eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth just promotes violence by saying that if someone kicks you kick that bastard back and so the circle will just continue, living our lives off of some 'law' made thousands of years ago is wrong and by now should be able to realize it. I somewhat believe in karma so basically if someone hits you they are actually hitting themselves in a sense.

that is what the jewish religion is based off of mostly (i am not jewish this is just what i have heard), but i think that would make some sence because their wouldn't be presidence their would just be normal trials with correctful punishments. some may dissagree with the idea of that saying. i am guessing they think it is too bad of a punishment, but if you shoot someone why are you a better person and not deserved to experience what an innocent person had to experience?

Killing someone does not bring back your loved one, and I know this. It does however give the victim's family a sense of... whats the word.... like a security? or like a sense of rest? If someone in my family had been intentionally murdered, and I knew that that guy was still breathing the same air I do, and still living life that he took away, I would not want him to continue. Revenge is often considered selfish, but what isn't? Everything we do in this world ultimately brings us some sense of joy/ accomplishment. If you help your friend out by making a CD for him, then you get the sense of, "hey, I just helped someone out, I feel pretty good."

Revenge is a path of a coward, to be so simple minded to believe in the Neanderthal like way of life of an eye for an eye is foolish. Was closure the word you were looking for? How would another persons death give you closure? if so your sicker then the one who committed the crime..

Think about it this way. You punch me and I fall down. I get up and punch you and you get hurt.

Some may think that was un-needed violence, but at the same time, who is to say that Karma did not act through you and your fist?

So in a sense, Eye for an Eye is another example of karma.

Yeah but that makes you ALSO prone for Karma to come back at you, just cause someone hits you you can't just hit them back and say it was karma, it would make you just as susceptible to it as they are. If you leave it be, it will show kindness and ultimately positive Karma will possibly be bestowed upon you giving you something good in return instead of something negative, had you hit them back.

As said before, we must ditch all of the 'age old traditions' set in stone. The world is much different these days as it was back then.
