Doomsday 2012;True or False?

Just because it the end of their damn calender doesn't mean the world will end.

 

The end of the world has been predicted more then I, anyone probably knows.

Look at all the big predictions (that got the most hype). All of the countries went ahead and spread the huge controversy over something stupid.

The world does have to end eventually, but why a random number by just another ancient civilization? The evidence for this theory doesn't exist and I'm amazed this even came up. It's nothing, just think about all the times the end of the world topic has came up. It seems like too many people believe anything they hear from a higher authority now.

 

What I want to know is why, here in the 21st century, with all our development and technology, certain people are still afraid of the predictions of a primitive -yes, I know they were very developed for their time, but by today's standards they were primitive- group of people that lived thousands of years ago. Have any of those kinds of predictions ever been right? I don't understand why we are accepting the ancient mayans to be any sort of a credible source.

 

If the world were to end on december 23rd, I would be pissed.

The certain people who are still afraid are the people who strongly believe in the ancient times. That's why you never encounter a logical person who is 'down to earth' claiming that the world will end in 2012.

 

False - Scientist even in our modern time do not have the Technology to predict when the earth is going to End. Really most people don't even think the world will ever end. My hypothesis is the world will end When there are no Living thing's on Earth to watch over it.

 

If that was the case then it would go on and on forever.

2012 was first prophecised(sp?) by Nostradomus. He said the world would end circa 2012. When has ANYTHING he prophecised been remotely on-target?

People also said 2000 was going to be a nuclear winter caused by computer malfunctions. Did that happen? Didn't think so.

Think about this, if scientists believed 100% that the end of the world was in 2012, why wouldn't they take out a HUGE loan for like £1,000,000 and just go crazy with it? I know if I believed, I would.

I've heard alot about the theory that the world will end in 2012, and after watching Knowing, I don't think if the worlds gonna end it's gonna end in the whole evil happens all over BS. Yes, I know the same people that predicted 9/11 has predicted this, but I still don't believe it.

 

That is false, Nostradamus was a false prophet.

Just because a lot of his (vague) guesses of random words describe an few events, doesn't make him completely true. I have read about him, books and internet. Also have seen many documentaries.






Back to original topic with what the Mayan Calender says...

The Mayans were being captured, killed, and enslaved... correct? Well then, when they were building their calender (in advance like we have already), the calender-maker/most intelligent person in the city may have been killed or taken as a slave.

That may be a reason as to why it stops at 12-21-2012 (or whatever the date is)
