Mostly people who study and get straight A's are people who want to succeed, or are scared of failure. The correlation between high school grades and college freshman grades is around .54, which means it is a horrible predictor of college success. Many kids have been under pressure from their parents to get straight A's, and when they get to college they are free to do whatever they want, so they do worse.

I am not saying this happens to everyone, I'm just saying that straight A's in highschool doesn't guarantee that you will be driving Audi's later on. Same with people who suck at getting good grades. They can be more people smart than book smart and be successful in business or sales.

Highschool is basically just memorizing a bunch of pointless crap for an end of the year test, which you will forget over the summer.

False. If you can memorize what you need for a test, you can memorize what you need for work. Just a question of wether you are lazy or not.

Yeah but you have to also be able to effectively utilize that knowledge. And for that you need skills. And you can't memorize skills from a textbook.
