Hello, someone just scammed me. Can you tell me appropriate way to report them to officials so they can take action?

 

Wrong on the deducting a loss for reset gold. Actually when you are reset nothing really happens to your taxes. It works as a deduction because you just aren't getting revenues. For example, you buy $10,000 worth of gold and get reset for that. That would count as part of your gold purchases (expenses), which would decrease your net income. There is nothing additional that needs to be done. Putting the $10,000 as a business loss would be double counting it, which is obviously illegal.

It all depends on how you file your taxes. Of course if you file the gold you purchase as a stock expense, you can't file it again as a stock loss. The way I did it was I only filed for the stock that was actually used. The rest of the amount was filed as lost inventory (or something similar) rather than restocking expense, if that makes sense. Its just a different way to better organize your expenses on your taxes rather than piling them all into one huge 'expense' for everything.

For an amount that low I would just go with selling on PlayerAuctions. As for the farming, I don't currently farm so I can't help you with that very well.

Gold farming has gone downhill. If you do use a paid script, get one for Simba or... EpicBots/Powerbot. Paid scripts are generally better than free, and Simba scripts are currently the best.

That depends on how much evidence you have, where your scammer lives, and where you live. You can use the Report A Scammer section on Sythe.org to get him banned in the community, however, if you want to take legal action, you're going to need a lot of proof and it's generally not cost-effective unless you live in the same state.

If you are audited, its going to be about 10000000x easier to prove that it was a purchase than a loss, but your call.

I'm looking to buy a good chunk of RSGP, around 1b or so soon, and it's been a year since the last time I have bought gold so I need some tips:

1. I'm on summer vacation currently in Korea.
2. I can only use Paypal (mostly due to #1), with a verified account.

What is the best way in buying 1B? I know that Paypal isn't the greatest form of payment here, and I had a lot of trouble last year with it, but it seems to be accepted a little more recently.

Who should I buy it from (any specific names?)? At what price per mill would I get? How can I minimize being caught by Jagex? (Last year, simply bought on a mule account and transferred on the same IP address - yes i know, not smart of me) And just any tips in general?

If paypal is your option, do paypal through player auctions. Why not buy from Grave himself?

 

By recording you purchased the gold, and then recording it as a loss again it's technically double counting it because not only would you not have sales to show as revenue for that $10k gold, you're claiming a $10k loss of stock. When I was reset I handled it like this:

January was when I got reset a lot, so in that month, I had about 9b or so more purchased then sold, I think it was about 205b purchased and 196b sold or something, so my profit was less because I didn't sell ALL that I purchased.

Filing your taxes properly will prevent you from getting audited in the first place. I'm taking the advice I give from my sister, and she's a lawyer so I take her word for it. However, you might be correct as well.

Both Arcus and I would sell that at about $650, up or down based on market conditions. I would recommend us or anyone with great feedback on PlayerAuctions.

I would go ahead and use a good VPN from the USA, as Jagex might get nosier around Korea and other Asian countries known for excessive rule abuse. Otherwise, you should be safe if you purchase it from someone in a low-profile area such as Canada or the US.

I am trying to use PlayerAuctions, but Paypal does not come up as one of my payment options. I received the verification code and everything, but Paypal does not come up as an option.

Contacted PA about this but until they reply, any idea what's going on?

And if by some reason I cannot use PA, what would be the best option as to buying RSGP via PP? My last resort is forum users online, but as most trustworthy sellers as yourself don't use PP, it would be tough (had to do that last year and it was a huge hassle gathering vouches to even get close to buying in bulk) and I would avoid that.

Looking through the forums, it seems as if PP is being accepted a little bit more widely than last year, but I'm not sure.

Sometimes they block off PayPal to certain people and regions. Other than PayPal, I would post around Sythe and see if anyone's willing to sell via PayPal, but almost no one trustworthy will accept PayPal for an amount that large. I would just go ahead and avoid PayPal all-in-all and use Western Union, Liberty Reserve, or other payment methods that are more secure.

 

I'm planning on merchanting GP and have some questions about it.

First is paypal chargebacks. Specifically I have an idea that someone showed me recently. It's basically the purchaser going first and sending the money with a note attached saying they confirm that they have gotten the service(gold) and will not in any way charge back the money. Wouldn't this be an assuring way to use as evidence if the purchaser decides to chargeback the cash?

Maybe I'm not seeing a mistake in that but I was wondering if that would be an ideal requirement when selling the gold.

Also another thing is if I sell+buy gold on an entirely different account that has never interacted in any way with my main but uses the same IP, will Jagex take action against my main if the other account is RWT banned?

 

The problem is, when people chargeback, it's because someone else used their paypal account to make the payment without their acknowledgement, not an issue about whether or not the services were received.

Anyone using a stolen paypal account can write "I received the goods and won't chargeback", so the real owner isn't liable to that.

You can reduce your taxes by designating a portion of your house as an office where you conduct business, filing for the gas you use to go pick up Western Union orders, and more. If you fill out an accurate tax report, you'd be surprised on how much the taxes are reduced.

Anything that doesn't require an investment. You can easily make $100 doing graphics, advertising in your signature, and generally helping people out who have money. Maybe you can apply to work with someone, run some bots, etc.

It changes. Originally, it was PayPal. After issues with them, I moved onto Google. After issues with Google, I used Plimus for a while. After issues with them, I moved on to AlertPay and Moneybookers. The only one who really withstood the test of time was Western Union, and even then I had some major issues with them a few months ago.

A lot of times I do, but the positions fill up fast, and people who I know more on a personal level get the job.

None of your ideas will prevent chargebacks, and they will eventually get you into more trouble than it's worth.

Once again, not an expert in this, but I think Jagex tracks your hardware, so the safest way to do it would be using a different computer/laptop and having a VPN on that.
