How do you deal with Paypal chargebacks, and how can you prevent it, because I'm looking to sell some gold.

 

Ultimately you cannot. Paypal don't agree with selling of virtual goods so you are not protected... Plus they can simply log in via a different IP and claim the account was stolen.

But to secure the transaction you should match the customers ID with there paypal etc etc, that should be enough protection to make sure nothing fraudulent is going to happen.

 

How much money/gold have you lost due to bans and/or changebacks?

Did you ever have to compensate the loss by raising some of your GP prices?

 

How can I set up a gold selling site? Can people still charge back with it?

This is not a post asking for tax advice, simply on facts regarding the law.

1. Do you have to pay them on runescape gold if payment is sent as gift?

2. Does western union report to irs?
if so when, if not always?

3. Can irs track paypal under 20,000 or 200 transactions?
if so do you have to pay taxes on that?
Even if I dont receive the 1099 form?

after ban waves, did you change your rwt methods? how long did you wait before starting again? I'm assuming you didn't really wait as you had a website but yeah. Were all your acc's trained a bit?

 

Hi. I've just bought several veteran accounts with relatively high combat on 07 [Created pre-email login]. Would purchasing gold on them be safe, as creating a new account would be rather suspicious? My main's been long past his Membership, long before 07 came out. I'm pretty sure reigniting my Main and creating a new account to accept large amounts of gp is suspicious, yet at the same time I wouldn't like to compromise the new accounts I just bought.

 

I'll take the liberty to answer a few of these myself. This thread is really old so don't expect Grave to reply particularly fast.

We'd usually take some extra precautions when there were ban waves going on. Just hold less gold, if possible had sellers deliver to customers directly. As you said there really was no wait, it's a business after all. You can't just randomly close some days because you got banned. Just suck it up, accept the loss and keep going. Honestly, from what I remember, most our accounts were just level 4's. It is for sure recommended to use an account a little bit trained at least.

Obviously it's never 'safe' to buy gold. It is against the rules of the game after all. It is however as I mentioned above, recommended to use an older account with some stats on it preferably. Kind of obvious that a fresh level 3 account that's trading hundreds of dollars of gold on a daily basis would attract more attention than an account that has existed for months/years and that has actually played the game.

I'm not sure what you are referring to here. What I understood from that is that you're afraid of RWT'ing on your main since then IP's could get matched with the other accounts you bought and have them all banned. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Anyways, if that was your point, then you might want to get a VPN/VPS and connect to it exclusively for RWT'ing. That way keep the account you are RWT'ing on with a completely different IP from the other ones you have. There's other factors too like jagex cache and whatnot, but you'll be at least a bit safer that way.

 

Is the market worth getting into now? I have around 2500$ per month in extra income from my current job to invest looking for a way to make some extra monthly cash.

 

To the people asking about paying taxes, yes, you legally have to pay them. If Paypal sends you a form, enter the information on that form in the relevant places on your tax forms / online tax software.

I reported my rs income as a sort of miscellaneous income last year. If you want specifics, I can look up my tax returns, but it's probably safe to report it in the same way you'd report selling misc items on Ebay (you can google how to do this).

I've just bought a new account and considered it my 'Main'. As the account is empty, I'm thinking of buying GP. However, since I do not have any other account, and I'm afraid of getting the new 'Main' banned for RTW, I'd create a Level 3 New Account and accept GP from there. However, my dilemma is that a Level 3 would be suspicious, whereas the 'Main' would have the chance of getting RTW-Banned.

Also, could you recommend a VPN/VPS? I'm willing to pay for it, as I'm thinking of running a massive bot farm.

 

What ways do you transfer the GP to your buyer to reduce the risk of being banned for RWT?

Also can someone chargeback from you if you sell on player auctions? If so how high are the chances of them claiming a successful chargeback?

So basically, you shouldn't transfer to a mule and you should try and give to higher levelled accounts?

Also, how does Duel arena staking do? Also what about drop trading?

 

As is the case with everything, it depends. It the mule level 4 with 35 total or level 180 with 1600 total? Is the mule a member? Is the mule account brand new? etc. I would say that, if you're transferring from a main to a reasonable-total/age/member mule, it's safer to do it that way than as a direct trade from main to gold buyer.

I don't know which of staking or drop trading or straight trading is best. I know that staking used to be monitored heavily (and probably still is). Some goldsellers prefer drop-traded gold, but several others just go for straight trades. You'd probably have to pay someone to give you a real answer as it would be heavily guarded.

 

Jagex ban 2 accounts of mine both for RTW before 5 months.
I still got 4b+ on them... Is there any chance to get them unbanned ?

Probably not. Rwt bans are notoriously hard to overturn. I've had an rwt appeal for a similar account going for 14 months now to no avail. You can try submitting an appeal and emailing Jagex account help (there are threads about what specifically works and what doesn't on Sythe and, I think, even on reddit).
