[APPROVED] Remove the moderator's ability to edit PM's

Most of the users might not know this but global moderators can edit conversations, both their posts and the one of the recipient. Unlike with regular posts this does not show it being edited, neither is it possible to revert to the older versions of the posts. If someone would want to do bad harm with this, they could easily do this. They could for example PM someone a proper Discord template, then scam said user and later on edit their post stating something like "You're talking to an imposter, this is not me". While I do not expect any crimes being commited there nor accuse anyone with it, this is a loophole that could be abused. Adjusting the setting to nobody being able to edit their PM's there could do the trick there.

 

Yes most certainly remove that no one should be able to edit what anyone post in PM's. Honestly what would be a legitimate reason to edit anything someone says in PM especially without any proof of it being edited.

 

I'm sure there would still be logs for this right?

 

Certainly not visible for globals or below.

 

Crazy how this suggestion comes after demotion, why was this not brought up sooner?
Nevertheless, sounds like a fair suggestion. Should be implemented.

 

I’ve been informed not to make any suggestions while on staff since I could basically make the change myself but to be honest the ability to perform such crimes never really popped up until now. I apologise if any of this seems wrong.

 

Not sure who told you that. A sub-forum for staff suggestions was created a long time ago per @Tyler's request. Irregardless, it's a poor excuse for not mentioning something this serious.

The ability to do this should have been mentioned a very long time ago. It has been removed.
