Welp Drouin stays put, apparently had 15 teams interested in him so Yzerman's asking price must have been quite high (especially in a buyer's market, considering Pirri went for a fucking 6th rounder, like the chances a 6th rounder ends up better than him is almost 0). Leafs were quiet today although a bunch of our Marlies like Nylander and Kapanen got some quality NHL time and looked real solid Ducks also got Jamie McGinn for a 2nd or 3rd round (conditional) so they'll be quite a force in the playoffs, pretty good day for them overall.

 

Lots of stacked teams heading into the playoffs. Should be a bunch of good games

 

Yep, we're up for some quality hockey, I think blackhawks/florida will be the top contenders.

 

Yeah it's crazy what some of the player went for. That one definitely sticks out the most. I have no idea why the Florida GM did that, except for maybe that Pirri simply wasn't fitting in and needed to be traded.

 

Florida GM had a puzzling last few days. 2nd and a 3rd for Hudler is a great bit of business but pirri for a 6th is almost insulting.

 

Yeah and Pirri wasn't playing too bad either, I watch panthers games and really confuses me why they did that

 

I imagine he would demand a higher contract to resign him, so they just had to get rid of him. Odd that they wouldn't keep him though, especially since they're going for a cup run.

 

Most likely, and yeah it is odd. Would be great to see panthers win the cup.

supposedly Oil offered a 3rd for him is what I heard, which is what makes it even more puzzling

 

I don't think that's true. The last thing the Oilers need is more offense, so why would they offer draft picks for him? Makes no sense >_<

 

World cup rosters announced, what do you guys think, who is going to be the winner? Ill have to say Canada is going to win it, Sweden comes in second and Finland at third place vs Russia in the bronze medal game.

 

No Giroux and Klingberg are the big omissions for me. Same with Subban

 

Klingberg is pretty new for the roster, so I'm not surprised they didn't pick him right away. Their logic is they want to see his performance in the playoffs (makes sense). As for Subban, I agree. He should be in the roster (Canada, right?) And Giroux has had a down season, so he may get in by June 1st.

 

Giroux got absolutely shafted for the 2014 team so I figured there might be a chance he makes this one. Excited for tonight. A ton of games on &#55357;&#56397;&#55356;&#57339;&#55357;&#56397;&#55356;&#57339;&#55357;&#56397;&#55356;&#57339;

 

I honestly couldn't care less about the world cup tbh. I'll still tune into the games and root for Canada but it's such a transparent money grab by the NHL and players and fans alike will never take it as seriously as the Olympics (and how can they? Team North America U23 and Team Rest of Europe, I mean really?) Combined with the fact that the NHL has instructed their players to decline mandatory doping tests from the IIHF shows that they're really trying to distance themselves, which is absolutely absurd. Considering how many players have said they'll be playing in Pyeongchang regardless of the NHL decision it seems like a set-up for another PR disaster, similar to the John Scott one.

 

Yeah, potentially. By saying no to the IIHF regarding the doping tests it will automatically ban you for an x amount of time, so the ones who doesn't obey it won't be able to play in South Korea I suppose.

 

PR disaster? The NHL? A match made in heaven lol.

 

I mean no matter what it is going to be quality hockey team Canada's roster is worth like 120 million + lol all that talent..
