    PlayerAuctions ID Verification

I was planning to get a RS account from PlayerAuctions, and after I paid... this showed up

I've asked their Live Support and this is what they said:
I've read a previous thread on this issue on Sythe and people replied that "you don't have to give them your ID and Bill. Just give the time for them to call and your phone number."

Another Sythe poster said: "You only need to give ID OR Bill. Also, they don't call you"

I am really confused and quite nervous. My purchase was 330$.
I can handle giving them my Drivers' License, but my bill has my banking account number on it. That is too dangerous and private to give out IMO.

What should I do? Any help would be greatly needed!

Provide the identification (its safe, they've had my information for over two years without any kind of issue) or pay using one of the alternative payment methods.

We aren't playerauctions support, therefore we can't make anything happen for you. Personally I'd just submit the verification information.

No, what are YOU talking about...
You just joined these forums, so don't go calling out stupid advice, please.

Personally I would not send them ID verification, and rather pay via alternate methods or not at all.
I understand their concerns though, so I'd suggest paying via alternate methods, or deal here on Sythe with a member you can trust with that much in paypal. (and they you)

    Good luck!

DO NOT send them your information.. Just google "Player Auction Scam" if you don't want to believe someone here. I could go into detail about multiple friends I know that have been screwed over by them.

Want to know something else? If you RWT anywhere else other than their site, they will "fine" you and you'll have to pay it before being allowed to trade on there again.

    Fuck Playeractions, seriously.

It's one thing to trust them with gold or a couple hundred dollars, but the amount of personal info they require is unsettling to say the least. I can definitely see why casual traders wouldn't want to put up with PA's bullshit.

Yup I got this through once aswell and thought it best not to fill it out and I was right to do so. as said above PA are sneaky and can screw you right up the USB port if you give them all that info. Just let the 48 hours past and try again, if it persists try using another payment method and if that doesn't work. Goodbye Player Auctions, you won't miss it :)

My my the kind of polarity that exists here. I can see that over the past years, we have done a poor job of educating our users about our platform, and obviously as some of you guys may be aware of already, this is something we are working directly with you guys on.

    @sleath56
Yes it's a legitimate request from us. With regards to what we do with your private information, all of it is outlined in our Privacy Policy, which actually is pretty industry standard. We do not sell personal information without your consent (we've never done this fyi), and the only time we would disclose your private information would be to law enforcement authorities (so if you are planning to scam someone, I wouldn't recommend providing us with your ID).

We are a US registered business licensed out of Delaware, with our consent to jurisdiction in the sunny state of California (where I am from no less).

2007scape is correct. We've been around since 1999 actually. 2001 is about the time we started becoming more popular. Incorporated in 2004, bought out in 2005. Shut down in 2006-'07. Re-launched in 2008, etc. etc. etc. (in a nutshell).

We have our PCI DSS certification which we renew every three months and follow standard privacy protection laws & regulation to a "T"

WHY DO WE HAVE THIS VERIFICATION?

    Two reasons.

PlayerAuctions is safe, and we want to keep it that way.
We have a very sophisticated risk management system which basically vets and tracks all users. If you think giving us your ID is a big deal, you need to understand that our risk management system is actually able to garner more than enough information about you without it. From your exact physical location, to the type of browser you are using, to your EXACT device ID (every single computer has one). The identity verification system a) acts as a deterrent from users who have bad intentions or who are lazy about staying safe (they cause us problems too despite good intentions) and b) helps us to verify that you are the person you say you are and have authorized the transaction (and that it isn't someone's son or daughter "borrowing mom's card". This is friendly fraud.

This is also a serious matter of compliance
We mention on our sight that we have banking level security. While yes... this applies to our backend and risk management systems, this also has to do with compliance. Businesses have to comply with a certain level of protection by following guidelines stipulated as "Anti-Money Laundering" and "Know your Customer" otherwise known as AML & KYC. Google it. Because we deal in digital assets, we have to be extra compliant, we want to lend legitimacy virtual asset exchanges, and so we want to make sure we are above reproach.

All this said, means that we run & operate a marketplace player to player trading platform that allows us to boast a 0.2% - 0.4% fraud rate average on a monthly basis.

This is great for people who want to engage in safe trading, we secure the trade for the buyer and process the payment for the seller.

I've responded to your other posts in other threads and you've not really provided details on your issue or responded in general.

I said I would help, but given your responses, I'd say you're either a Grade A flamer, or a competitor with no scruples.

It's not unsettling. For the reasons I outlined above. Anyone here getting into Bitcoin will tell you the same. Virtual Transactions need to be compliant with FinCEN's regulations.

Sorry to hear about the "bullshit" you refer to. I've seen you around from time to time, and thought that I had addressed you and that PA has been making a concerted effort to reach out to the Sythe community and support you guys. Not sure if there are other companies going out on such limbs, but if that's a mistake, let me know. Is my helping people out here a waste of time?

You were the one who wrote this right?: http://www.sythe.org/13003701-post32.html

Give us some credit, and maybe a reason to be involved here and keep interacting with you guys.

Helping people here as you call it probably is a waste of time, as your most likely just stalking us so you can hit people with your fees for offsite trading.

    @Pa
Whoever this Jacob guy is, assuming it is you, added me on Skype to "help", which again, I'm not asking for help, figured out what my current account is on PA, which by the way was not even verified- lol gg. And simply banned it on your site. There was no 'help'.

Personally I hate that I've ever even visited your site much less used it in the past.

Yes, it was me who reached out to you on Skype. It was also me that you provided false information too. (gg with your credibility. you can't see when someone is trying to genuinely reach out).

And yes, I have helped others here:
    http://www.sythe.org/13007698-post21.html

And yea, there are those who feel we do a service to the community:
    http://www.sythe.org/13071098-post5.html

And yes, there are others who feel the same way about you:
    http://www.sythe.org/13008691-post40.html

We are a legitimate business. And the issue you had described before is highly unlikely due to the reasons I outlined in my responses to you elsewhere. Stalking. Really? Keep talking mate, I don't really think people in general are finding that you are helping your credibility at all. I reached out to help, and you gave either no response to the issue, or continue flame baiting.

So, again a flamer, or competitor, could be both:idea: . So, either accept my offer to help, or I'll have our in-house counsel contact you, since you've basically just confirmed your identity for me (in contradiction to the lie you had fostered previously). It's not a threat, But a choice. I'm willing to work with you, it doesn't have to be against you. I believe most reasonable people can see this.

Meh I will never give anyone online my id, it is just how I work. For that reason PA doesn't let me sell accounts on their site even though I have over 1600 feedback there and have paid their $300 deposit or however much it was. I think they should give more leniency to the established users on their site.

PA is a legitimate and in my personal experience reliable business organisation. Sure, their customer support (mainly pertaining to their live-chat) isn't the greatest, and their communication skills/method aren't either. However, of recent they have made strides to amend that, and from around 200+ people I've spoken to, they've all stated that it is indeed getting better.

I understand why people would be hesitant to give out such personal information; however, look at it from their perspective. People also forget that other Runescape gold/account selling websites almost ask for the same identification when users are paying with paypal.

What irritates me the most is that PA PR are making a continued effort to reach out to users here and most of you arguing with him come of as abbrasive, rude and arrogant. If I was Jacob from PA, I'd have given up. Clearly he hasn't, and clearly they care about their users/customer base...regardless if in the past it may not have seemed so.

Lastly, all the faults that are being pointed out, and all the negative experiences are being taken out of context and looked at with tunnel vision. If you people are going to compare and state that they aren't reliable and such, you should look at the whole spectrum, and compare faults with successes. Meaning, look at all everything, the good and the bad. PA would have a tremendously higher number of successful trades than erroneous ones.

kmjt, I wrote you in another thread, but my response to you may have been buried and you might have missed it. PM me, and I'll see what I can do to help you out.

About leniency. Not going to disagree. The success of our platform is in how safe it is. The not so great element however, is just how strict it is.

That being said, we've on-boarded an outstanding risk management engineer one year ago exactly, and he has been revamping our system to make it more intelligent. Our first phase of deployment of this new system will be released mid-January. The Marketing team is going to shoot me for letting this out earlier than they'd like, but whatevs, I'll buy them donuts and all will be okay. I'll let them dish the deets lata.

As I said tho, PM me, or email me, and I'll help ya out.

Intelligence factor right here. Props for good reason. And what your last paragraph asserts is true. YES, you can google plenty of complaints about PA around the web. Most of them however, we have responded to and provided solutions for (not all, still working). However if you added them up, they pale in comparison with the number of successful orders we complete each day, and we haven't even reached critical mass yet.

To give you an example, I reduced marketing expenditures by 60% in 2012, and PA still grew by 43% same year. The fact is, 97% of orders that go through our system successfully complete with both parties leaving positive feedback for each other.

We're equipped to do this, whereas LiveGamer, PlaySpan, Sparter, etc. are all things of the past (and they had venture capital to boot, whereas we run lean and mean, have expertise & tech they don't. We're not huge like they are/were, and I guess that plays to everyones benefit, because it means we are actually here engaging you guys)

I'll respond to you tomorrow after I confirm a detail you've just provided. And mate, I don't view our exchanges as arguments. ;) I'll respond here, or you can PM me, and I'll respond to you directly. Up to you.

To be honest I see that I have been a bit of an opinionate S*** whos living in the past. I personally haven't dealt with PA for a good few years and a lot can change, and will have changed over that time period to make the experience so much better. I think there is just a fine line still between a trusted seller that PA will help and merely a little buyer that they will just push to a side. To be honest that happens in most places as the bigger sellers are more of a concern to your support. Yet I just felt like I couldn't ask of anything from you when I did use your services quite regularly.

From what you've said above and merely the fact that you have branched all the way out into other communities in this market shows the progress you've made in your efforts to support every buyer and seller and well I will try PA out again for sure.

As for getting opinion of PA off the internet and google inparticular, its just going to push you further and further away as people will leave indepth details of bad experiences and they will share it as much as possible, yet we take a good experience for granted and therefore don't speak a word of it. So google is riddled with bad experiences and no good ones. So I think its best I find out for myself :)
