I just find it super cheap right now with a pretty good support at 25. I think with the introduction of moments we could see some potential here. I do admit it's not the best trade out there

In other news, I bought SVXY at @ 64.32 friday. 10% gain today, 5$ a share. Abusing the VIX is just too easy man.

 

Bought more NXTD at .59 and bought OPWR this morning at 8.96. Opower has has created programs and algorithms to help save companies money and is well connected, while also beating previous estimates. I wanted to get in under $9 because I'm looking to hold this for years unless it really gets hot sometime.

 

Sold the NXTD shares I bought yesterday @ .63 this afternoon.

I sold 1/4 of my OPWR positions @ 9.20. Holding the rest, will continue selling small each time it reaches any number of my chosen resistance points, and holding the rest for years to come.

EDIT: AA having another really nice day for my dad as well. All his positions are pennies under 8.00.

maybe: GILD < CVS < UNH

selling: the rest

will likely add 4-5 of: EXPE, SBUX, DIS, COST, CRM, UHAL, AYI, SNA before the end of the year and might add the rest next year. if anyone wants to make a case for some over the others, feel free.

I've actually looked into AYI before. They spun off a lot of chemical stuff and continue to acquire helpful pieces. SNA is also poised for much more success.

I just sold a few positions, one stop-loss, to get cash and keep my YTD ~+2.7%. Holding OPWR (8.96), PLUG ([1.83-2.40]), KMI (27.03) and EMC (25.03). Bought into PBY at 15.51 and GE at 30.23 and 30.29 (75% of my shares) early morning Friday.

X hits 10% gains for me today...I think it has huge potential is anybody is interested and not worried about being too late. I think we test 10$ within 30 days

 

Twitter up 7% today because they montetized their passive user base. Something I mentioned as a positive for them. Well played twitter!

 

i've looked at X, SID, and VALE (SID was the first stock I bought; went up 14% that day lol) and decided i'm not up for the risk right now. good for you though. double digit gains are nice

 

FOMC at 2:30 PM EST for those who are interested. There is a high chance of a rate hike by the feds today. Many people have been long on USD since November for this reason. Watch if she plans for another hike in Jan 2016.

For FX traders (I doubt there are any on here but w/e), watch USD pairs and commodities (gold, crude oil, etc.)

For stock traders, watch DUST (gold short fund). We could watch major stocks crash, gold and commodities drop, and the dollar soar. If the fed announces and interest rate hike, watch DUST and SQQQ. TVIX is another big one to watch.

Gold and the Dollar tend to have an inverse relationship, so I dont understand and can't agree with the DUST idea...NUGT on the other hand I'd agree with. I'm up now for the TDA Feds meeting briefing. I'll be on the market all day cuz this meeting dictates a lot for us.

I love how when she says something good, the market immediately does well. As soon as she stutters or says something bad, the market reverses. The power she has is unreal

 

To add, historically, USD goes down after hike -> Buy the rumor sell the news effect. Short term at least
Long term, "higher rates might attract capital to the US via interested rates differentials. That tends to push USD higher" therefore putting pressure on precious metals.

So I guess you can trade it either way depending on your trade time horizon

 

ended the year at +6.00% vs the S&P, which i'll take as a win. this also marks my third straight year beating the index (+5%, +13%, +6% over the last 3 years), so happy about that as well

and i've made some portfolio changes, in part for tax reasons, as discussed earlier on this page. here's where i'm at going into 2016. will be looking to add two more securities next week - any suggestions? (note blacked out lines are positions that i've closed and am still selling partial shares of. none of them are worth more than $100 or so)
