Favorite investments?

I invested about $1000 of my own money (through my dad) in apple stock about a year and a half ago. Ended up great and I made about $250 within a few months.

There is no standard investment that always works. Read up on technical analysis and the elliott wave principle.

I would have to say that real estate and land is the best way to go. I had brought about 2 acres of land in india about 6 years ago at $400 a cent (100 cents is a acre), now the land is valued at $11,600 a cent! Not bad of a investment if I do say so myself, I would have brought more if I had more money at the time. =)

I was actually thinking of using my goldfarming earnings to start investing in land. I only have about $7000 so far (just started in April) so I'd be starting really small. A big concern I was looking at with investing in a place like India is the fact that the ownership of the land is entirely dependent on governmental and other structures that could rapidly change, but I suppose that's a risk you just have to evaluate.

I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of some resources you found useful and where you got started.

Buy a few houses and fix them up. One of my buddies does that and he doesn't even have another job. All he does is buy houses, fix them, and lease/sell them. He's never short on cash and is always the one buying the drinks and bud for everyone. Seems like a good place to invest time.

Foreign investments are the most risky, I see where you think that being more aggressive will result in more gains but with the ability of small economies to collapse you could easily loose your entire investment. The only time I would advise investment in small companies outside the EU/USA is if you have been there and can see how things are run and what the situation is like.

Now, for a little advice to you, I would suggest you investing in stocks right before or after their earnings are reported. For example, when apple reported its earnings the stock went up 12% in ONE day this was just a little while back. So you're basically guessing on whether the earnings will be larger than the same quarter in the past year. This also works with companies that you think are going to have lower earnings, the stock plummets for a few days and you can buy it at a nice discount and the stocks usually work their way back up after the hype dies down. It is hard to accurately tell when the earnings will be lower but sometimes its much easier. For example with apple the tablet market quadrupled in a year which resulted in more ipad sales than ever which resulted in higher earnings. It's not so always clear like that.

There are a lot of options to choose from. Real estate like the people before me mentioned is a very safe option and is the type of investment financial experts recommend before owning stocks, bonds etc. You could get some value stocks like Apple, Microsoft etc which don't really lose value and continue growing. If you're investing before fall I suggest buying into Gamestop because I predict the stock prices will rise because of the wave of highly anticipated games from E3 being released. You can also buy bonds which are another safe investment option. You could take out a loan or something and get a bond with a monthly payment option as most bonds have monthly payouts larger than a loan's monthly payment.

I think Real Estate is a great way to invest your money. Right now, with the US Market being so fragile, I think stocks are very high risk, without providing any greater reward than usual. Real estate, especially in recession-proof areas (for example: government cities) seems to have much more upside. Not only are you investing in a necessity, you are also able to directly work on your investment, and live inside your investment.

I had a close friend who was in this business. It looked like they were living the life with no worries and lots of money at all times. I am not sure if right now though it's a great time to do this. I am trying to sell our house and it's been half a year and no luck. Market is a bust in the real estate.

Was actually thinking into doing that. Difference is I will be customizing old/used up cars into something new. Plan on going to UTI to get some training as I still am not a pro at adding mods/paint jobs myself. Could be a pretty good investment as I heard a couple buddies of mine do the same thing.

I really wish my dad had listened to me a few weeks ago. Apple was a company I was watching really closely. A few weeks ago during the crash, I told my dad to invest into Apple as it had hit $350/share when the markets were fluctuating each day. It's currently at $390. An increase of $40/share. Unfortunately I don't have the six-figure capital to be investing into Apple for a good return at that price like my dad could have.

Long term investment: I spent a few thousand dollars into my growing operation, but I easily make my money back.. In just one harvests time.
