Y'all need some more mods

It's not so much that there MUST be a non-global in those sections, it's that there aren't enough staff members to handle things like pardons, disputes, scam reports. I've had ban evader reports that went unanswered for 3+ days, and there was a point in time where there were a lot of pardons that got shitted on -not because of mods offering "no support"- but because no one even bothered to respond.

Top this with staff inactivity - Sythe and Matthew obviously have higher priorities than scam reports, N4n0 is inactive, Frenzy is busy, Dave is going on leave (I believe? Rumor?) Josh0 has had several week-long periods of time where he hasn't been on.

The excuse that there aren't enough suitable candidates really isn't an excuse. Here's a few people (not my personal suggestions, but could easily do the job)

There are people who I really wouldn't have ever thought to be considered for mod when they were promoted (mainly Entrr and Josh0) *Entrr is doing an incredible job as moderator though*. But can you really look at the list above and not think there would be a few decent picks?

Yea but that has been happening for years. People have always been very ban happy. Richard is included there so it is quite difficult to change.

I chose to not list ex-mods but it is very true that there are plenty of candidates.

 

It's clearly the most active thread of the day. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes from it!

@Ghast, do you think staff then activity would work as well as activity then staff? Just curious, most of those people I hardly see.

 

Especially if you were to consider some of their other roles - Yohojo being a moderator on botting sites, hell, I'm a Dragon Dyce administrator. Pick people who have experience elsewhere. I'm sure there's a list of CDT members somewhere that I don't care to find, but they would be a good start to find people if you are in the goal of rebuilding the site/certain sections.

 

cas would be an awesome mod for sure. And don't blame roary for shits cus he does a lot for this site. (im not kissing his ass,its just the truth)

 

What is so hard about answering a reported thread in a dead section?

It would be foolish to promote users for a needless job. Users shouldn't feel obligated to promote activity as moderators, they can do that as average users if they really cared.

I'm not sure on your intentions for bringing this up, but one can assume it came from boredom.

OT - judging by the fact that there's another page of responses by the time I post another response, it's pretty clear that something needs to happen with site staff. I only joined a year and a half ago, and there are something like half as many staff.

I like the idea of the poll but I think there could be a lot more questions and some of the answers could be much different than the given options.

 

@Ghast, I.e. I would look for people who are active around the site then bring them up as a candidate. But do you think giving people mod would then make them active?

Time and time again mod hasn't increased activity, I was just curious what you thought since most of those names with a few exceptions aren't very active currently.


@SuF, yeah, I changed my mind about some answers but people had already voted and i was greatful it even got replies so left it as it was. And it was all I could think of at that particular time.

 

This isn't argument about essentials, it's an argument about wants. Unless anyone can prove the need for more sectionals at this moment, it's not in demand.

They will be forced to try and bring activity to that specific section, but I've seen it fail constantly. The only section that you can try and bring activity too is the graphics forum. Moonglare tried and level 75 def is doing his best, but at the end of it all, there isn't enough users to get the activity they are looking for.

 

What's wrong with wants? Should always be striving for more users, more activity, more interaction, more events and so forth. Just because it isn't required doesn't mean it's not a good addition.

To name but a few "wants and not essentials": 2 factor, sythe chat, miniranks, cdt, more donor incentives, sythe wallet whenever it gets finished, new sections etc etc

 

in all honesty i think making one a mod decreases their activity in the section they used to thrive in.

To narrow it down and hurts people's feelings: farcast, Sellerman, Yohojo and maybe nytrix should be the only ones promoted on that list (besides punjbai but i think he resigned cus he dont care anymore). The other retarded current mods should be removed, i'm talking about the ones that do jack shit.

and every single part of the n4n0 situation (not the ones that doxed/ddosed w/e n4n0, i'm talking about the people that simply fucking posted a link in a private chat) should be unbanned. that may be the stupidest decision since finn was admin, to ban people because they posted a link in a private chat.

There is LITERALLY 0 good that came from trin starting drama and getting people banned.
edit: if you're a sectional and you don't have dispute perms, might as well demote yourself because you're 100% useless. Any retard can do spam reports.

 

When two-click easy ban evader reports don't get responded to for 3+ days, it seems like there needs to be more staff.

There was also a situation where pardons weren't being posted on and people had to wait another six months just because there simply wasn't enough staff to go around to dedicate to reading through pardons.

When I joined, there were about twice as many staff. Either the staff now have to work twice as hard, or do a half-shitty job.

 

hello , i am just posting my opinion here i think we need mod who think outside the box ?? many mod stick to guide line this or that , but this is a forum not a country ? just staff is to keep site nice not to ban so many people for nothing , just rally need to ban scammers/hackers even just ban from the market people can ban evade :O. i think this is a big mistake sythe made , if we did ban people just from certain section or from market if they are scammer the site could increase in activity BIG TIME! . i think Cas_M is not a good choice for mod he is the just the type of person that is stick to a guideline never does think outside the box just a robot it seems i don't know
