Why is Suicide illegal?

Suicide shouldn't be illegal, of course it does cause harm, but for most of the people that do it, its inebitable.

Now on the other hand, if you aren't mentally unstable and you attempt it, of course, it should be.

 

I believe that the first post is true. I think that they stop people from committing suicide is that from a bit of psychological help they will most likely change their opinion in life and be happy that they never committed suicide in the first place.

 

Don't really matter, you're a bit to dead to do any punishment.

 

When you really think about it, commiting suicide is like just like murder. Granted, you may be taking your own life away, but is not a life? Commiting suicide only makes those that care about you and love you, suffer.

Suicide should be illegal.

 

The difference is that it's the murder of yourself. Why can I not kill myself?

 

i agree, if someone is ill (mentaly ill) they arn't in the right state of mind and they shouldn't be let to have there lives in there hands.

but i mean people who are on death row, and people who are dying very slowly i would think should have a right to take there life.

i mean if your getting ready to die in an hour why not be able to kill your self?

 

I strongly believe no human would ever want to take their own if they were able to think under a clear mind. Everyone has had tough times in your life when all you want is to escape from it all (Note: I'm not talking about suicide I'm literally talking about avoiding the situation). Then you have times in your life when nothing can go wrong and you just love the life you live.

Those that are suicidal are "in the moment" and more than likely mentally unstable. Not being able to clearly think about their situation/actions results in drastic results that sound like your best plan at the moment. If suicide is illegal anyone under those conditions can be monitored appropriately and be given mental help.

Obviously you can't be punished when you're dead. However, not everyone that ATTEMPTS suicide actually COMMITS suicide.

 

What of those who train themselves not to experience emotion, and are nihilistic?

 

Killing somone is iligal.

You're a person.

If anyone would kill you he will get punished.

If can kill yourself it will be unfair for others.

 

I'm not extremly familar on Nihilism so correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression Nihilists believe the universe has no value or purpose. Therefore one doesn't necessarily want to end his life, but never experiences any happiness.

 

I know some Nihilists who believe that, since life is inherently valueless, and must end some day, ending it now is better from the perspective of getting it over with.

 

should be persanal choice afterall if they have nothing to live for they should be able to take there own life .tbh

 

Yet, they're still alive so some sort of moral bond is keeping them from actually ending their life. Maybe in their clear minds they're able to realize they truely don't want to end their life?

It's the same principle with suicidal Japanese kamikazes and the use of methamphetamine. The kamikazes were inspired by a bit more than just nationalism, mind-altering drugs also played a role.

Good question. You know if you set of a nuclear explosion in new york its a $500 fine? Think about that and try to sleep tonight

 

Suicide, as with doctor-assisted suicide, is illegal because many can continue to lead productive lives if given psychiatric help over time.

There are exceptions to this, in which case they can probably take care of it for themselves.

On a separate note I remember reading some statistics.. Females are twice as likely to attempt suicide as males, while males are twice as likely to succeed. I just thought that was interesting..

 

We need OFFICIAL Suicide booths.
Where you fill out some papers. To make all belongings ect go somewhere.
You would need an good reason. not just (Mom grounded me) or anything
It would also be good for the economy, Think of all the jobs that would come with such thing.
Not to mention the ability to donate organs limbs ect, to science and people who need them.
