Why do people care about religion?

If it is true that God doesn't exist, then religion in general has been the biggest indoctrination mankind as succumbed to, and is also, arguably, the most influential idea that has affected mans' actions throughout the centuries.

There's nothing wrong with having beliefs, it's just blindly accepting beliefs that most people have the problem with. Actually, blindly accepting what people say is a threat to your precious democracy.

 

Not too many people are on the right track as far as answering the original question goes..

Why does person A care what person B believes in?

 

I though Kero answered it pretty nicely. People want to be right, and they want people to know that they're right.
Broly says that he likes discussing it because he enjoys learning about their views. I agree with that, however what I don't like is when the other person takes on a condescending attitude, as if believing in God makes you stupid.

 

Isn't it the best thing to do? If you saw someone who thought 1+1=3, you'd go over to them and let them know that it isn't 3, it's 2; you'd try to educate them. If someone thought using a blowdryer while having a spa was ok, you'd let them know that it could electrocute and kill them; educate them. If someone thought that killing was ok, you'd go to them and explain why it isn't; educate them.

Why would you not do this if someone believed that there is a magic man in the sky that will forgive them for murder if they say sorry? Is it because this belief is sanctioned by the majority of the population, and those who dare question it are struck down and for victimizing one for exercising their right to freedom of religion?

Religion is popular. It has some very questionable teachings. It has affected humanity significantly. If it is wrong, like any other belief, you should try and educate people.

So, to answer the question, I care about people religious beliefs because it is that thought process (faith) that legitimizes many atrocities in society.

 

Mother always told me to believe in what you see, as i never see anything related to '' Jesus '' or any other saint or god, i became an atheist and i don't care what others are, for each there own.
